I can see that you and I belong to the same generation but even in our generation we didn't use to describe our musical stars in these terms as Mr Namjoo is being described. I think this comes with the Iranian natural cult of human worship. I guess those days' Freydoun Foroughi would have been the nearest to what Mohsen Namjoo is today. But, regardless of their politics, I would still prefer Foroughi's originality to the Namjoo's. Sorry fellows but it is a matter of taste.

Yes, Namjoo represents the new generation of Iran but also the

new generation of Iranian artists who create new forms of expressions in music, painting, filmmaking, etc. After all this the Iranian culture that we are talking about. Also, I like to add, Namjoo's form of music is close to Performance Art where one needs to experience it as it unfolds and happens.

to me, Namjoo represent very well the new generation of Iran: Lost and restless!

Nothing against him, but as I always said, he is given too much credit by the Iranian in Diaspora while I rarely hear his name from my friends who live in Iran. They are mostly Shajarian(both ostaad and H.) lovers, or  Lotfi or even Ehsan Khajeh Amiri (among the more pop lovers)....

This is my personal taste. Please guys, don't make another drama of it. Thank you :)

Namjoo takes the listener to where he's not been before

musically and emotionally. Farhad, rest in peace, had some of this quality too. But Mohsen Namjoo goes one step further than Farhad, he experiments with Iranian music and melodies and mixes it with modern/Western music and at times he creates a new form of music. The song Dokhtaran Farrari is an excellent example of this new form although the clip ends abruptedly. 

PS: I wonder who wrote the lyrics for this song?

I am scared

Not of Namjoo but of you guys. I am scared of your sense adulation and worship of this guy. His song(s) may be okay politically but artistically??, he is no match for, say, Sattar, Farhad or Daryoosh. Even worshipping them is/was wrong but I think you guys don't really understand the value of the words you use. After all, words are cheap!

It so happens that every once in a blue moon an extra ordinary singer/artist philosopher a super star that  has a universal appeal beyond the boundaries of the norm may bloom within the Iranian culture of the 21st century, Mohseen Namjoo is one those rare greats.

Watch and see him become a new icon and go down in Iran’s new history of music and art as one of the greats.
