The Pahlavis were the worst Iranian Monarchs in history
by John Carpenter III (not verified) on Thu Feb 07, 2008 06:39 PM CSTIran had two of the worst leaders from 1925-1979.
Reza Shah,Reza Khan, Reza Mir Panj or any other name he went by, was an uneducated dictator. He was installed by the British and removed by the British.
During WWII Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was installed by the British and the US. Mohammad Reza had absolutely no control of Iran. In the 1950s Mossadegh, a popular Prime Minister in Iran nationalized the Oil industry. The Shah was enraged. The Shah wanted all the Oil revenue to go to the British. In 1953 the CIA with the help of Ashraf Pahlavi, Shaban Jafari, General Pakravan, General Zahedi removed Mossadegh from power. Then the Shah put Mossadegh on trial. Mossadegh was put in jail and after he was released he was under house arrest until 1967 when Mossadegh died in Ahmadabad, Tehran.
In 1979 there was civil unrest. Every Iranian was protesting. The economy was at a standstill. The Shah left Iran in January 1979. He appointed Shapur Bakhtiar prime minister of the interim government. That government fell in less than 30 days.
Mossadegh's followers Karim Sanjabi and Mehdi Bazargan backed Ayat'Allah Khomeini. Khomeini returned to Iran. On February 11, 1979 Iran became the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Shah died in Egypt in 1980 of Cancer. On the day the Shah died there were massive parties in Iran by the masses of Iranians.
