I just wanted everyone to know.

I used to listen to him in the good old days of the Shah. It was not until recently that I got to hear his voice again. I loved his voice and still do. It reminds me of going to the Caspian Sea with my parents. He will live in my heart with all those wonderful memories. Why did we have to throw all of that away? Was it worth what we have now?

He is one of the greatest

He is one of the greatest singers of my time. One of the most under appreciated too. It is amazing how the newer generations are rediscovering his talented work today.

I am saddened that some religious thugs vandalized his grave, and wouldn't leave him alone, even after his death.

One of greatest!

Frereidoun Foroughi is truly one of the best and by far my favorate. His music, voice and lyrics were explosively effective in expressing his emotional state. A beautiful person.

I remember the first time I was exposed to Fereidoon's music vividly. I was fifteen or sixteen, attending high school in tehran, my world an exciting whirlwind of new people and experiences, my tende r mind lapping up the life that flowed past me like a man dying of thirst. Me and my two best friends, Arya and Arash, were inseperable in all we did, mapping this uncharted territory of life interactions, parties, and most of all, "freedom" from our parents together. We deceided we would take a trip to shomal on a long weekend, the first such trip I would go on without my parents, and my elation was extreme. It was in Khezer Shahr, with the caspian sea foaming and roaring close by, the ghelyoon bubbling merrily on the cheap plastic table as Arash tried to woo the girls we had just met that I heard Fereidoon's voice blaring scratchily from the windswept speakers. The deep, pleasing baritone of his voice swept over me, instantly igniting a motion within me which i couldnt even at first recognize. Nostalgia, that bittersweet shot of thickness in the back of my throat, started with Fereidoon(for me at least). At first I couldnt even fathom the emotions his music created in me. Sadness, wielded so deftly and beautifully through words and guitar and piano, that it is tinged with the happiness of homecoming. The lyrics are sad, bitter at times, but it is the unbridled, wild expression of those emotions that almost brings a tear to my eye. He will be missed.

I like so many other Iranians, have so many memories from his songs. Foroughi is at the same level of Farhad, Dariush and other greats.
