Gold Sangam is NOT Jamshid Sheibani song!!! It is another one of Maestro Rohani's endless collection of masterpieces. You must have been confusing it with SiminBari which was composed and sang by Sheibani.

I agree these rowdy crowd of audience at San Francisco U were not respectable enough to a musical icon as they intrrupted his playing with their chidlike clapping. It is sad that the level of musical appreciation by our Persian friends in the west has been reduced to creating a night club atmosphere (kabareh). If Mr. Rohani was playing in Iran, whether in the old days or even nowadays, the crowd's reaction would be quite different.

I agree they could have done better But ...

I agree that the Pahlavi's could have done more to acknowledge the Artists in general. However I think that contrary to today society considered popular Arts with some snobbery. That said Artists had much more freedom to express themselves particularly in the music field than today otherwise most like Kiosk and Abjeez would not have chosen to leave the country.

Although I love Music I am Unfortunatly I am no Music expert ( my avenue is more movies) so I gather you are correct.

The old crew had no loyalty even to their own. Maybe someday I'll tell you about what my mother did for Iranian traditional music and how they thanked her.

Mr Rohani is not a "motreb mahaleh", but a high caliber musician. Even though his music might be apporpriate for dance and clappings, when he plays, (I wished he played in my neck of the woods), and specially for ten minutes, people should give him, and his music the respect that it calls for. To be all ears. It is distracting, to say the least, when a musician has to play a rhythm that is not in concert with the group. And as far as his happiness with the clappings? hmmmm... who knows... One thing I'm sure, he is a too much of a gentleman to show otherwise.

Dear "aghakia"

As I mentioned in my comment, the first song is from "haayedeh",

It's SARAAB "az aan zamaan ke aarezoo cho naghsi az saraab shod.......".

2nd one is "Soltan-e ghalbhaa", from the movie(?) and the last one with people clapping, is "Gol-e sang", from Jamshid Sheibaani.

P.S.To (bored...dude and gorbeh) Clapping, for we Iranians(for the most part) is a way of participating in the music with the performers, and in my humble opinion, has nothing to do with being "baazaari" or otherwise.

I know the name of the ending song is gol-e-sangam, but don't know the beginning. Given their popularity, the sheet music for these songs are found in many Iranian pop sheet music books. Mr Rohani himself had published two sheet music books a few years ago with with accompanying CDs as well. You may be able to find them in bookstores (e.g katab corp in LA-they do phone orders)

Vali, I just realized that along with Soltaneh Ghalbha, he also played two different songs. If anyone can tell me the name of these other two songs, I would really appreciate it. Thanks again =) Also, the definition of a "medley" is "a musical composition consisting of a series of songs or other musical pieces from various sources" so he did play other songs besides Soltaneh Ghalbha.

GOD !! just look at him making love to the key board, he's not playing it, he makes love to it!

There were 3 different songs, (Saraab) from late Haayedeh, (soltaan-e ghalb haa) and (Gol-e sangam).

As for clapping, He himself was happy with it, otherwise he would control the rythm differently as he did at (2:58).

Clapping

This event was not a concert. Anoushirvan Rohani played for 10 minutes as part of larger program to celebrate Norooz. The crowd was showing their love and appreciation for his work by clapping along. Rohani was thrilled and appreciative as well. So why are YOU upset? Cheer up baba :o)

The people who clapped here, don't understand that there is a time and place for clapping. It takes a "damboli-dambol" mindset to clap with this music.

Whats with the clapping? The guys is playing a classical piece and you mess up his rythm.. I stopped watching after the clapping crap.. it completly ruined his freestyle..
