Today, I visited the Victoria Arts Centre Gallery where I met with Sven Johanssen, an artist who was exhibiting his sculptures. Multi-talented, he is also a choreographer. He has invented a special kind of pole on which people can attach themselves and dance with a maximum of possibilities in movement. He calls it a gravity free dance or ES (Excedere Saltatio - Dance Exceeding Limitations.) He showed me a full video of his dancers, who included two people with disability: a woman in a wheelchair and a man with two canes. All the dancers looked like they were flying in the air. They were dancing in the dark, so we couldn't see the pole that they were using. A few hours later, he sent me the following video-mail sample of his work. Enjoy.
