There are 1.200 million drug addicts in Iran, Iranian news agency MEHR quotes Police Force Commander in Chief Ismail Ahmadi Mugaddam as reporting.
He said 400,000 of them are using heroin.
Iran is located in a transit corridor between Afghanistan, which produces producing raw opium, and its customers in Europe. Iran's government sent thousands of security officers to the east of the country and constructed over 1,000 km of canals, walls and other barriers to block drug penetration into the coutnry.
According to the UN World Drug Report, a border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan has become one of the most free trade zones for arms and drugs, as well as illegal migration.
According to official statistics, 33 percent of drug addicts in Iran use opium, Fars news agency reported earlier.

>>>So the IR Terror Regime boasts about its robust anti-drug crime and social policies which includes public hanging of alleged frug traffickers.
Repression of social freedoms, lack of personal expression, state controlled media, rampant unemployment, mass poverty, executions and huge disparities between the social class divide drives Iranians to drugs.
Death to the IR. Condemn it. Fight it. Destroy it.
