Iran's Shekarestan to compete in China

Iranian remarkable animation Shekarestan, directed by Babak Nazari, will compete at the 8th Changzhou International Animation and Digital Arts Festival (CICDAF) in China.

The forty-fourth episode of the Iranian animation series of Shekarestan titled The dreamer and the jug of oil will be screened at the 2011 CICDAF, IRNA reported.

Produced by Seyyed-Masoud Safavi, the animation narrates the story of a dreamer who travels to Machin, a country in Shekarestan, to trade in oil. The story focuses on the many reveries of the dreamer, none of which will come true.

Shekarestan tells a series of stories inspired by Persian proverbs, anecdotes and stories. The animation, as the representative of the Iranian culture and art, has shown itself well in domestic and International festivals.

Nazari, who has directed 90 episodes of Shekarestan, has won numerous national and international awards including the best animation award of the 27th Tehran International Short Film Festival.

The animation is also invited to attend in Gryphon Awards, after participating in this year's Cannes Film Market in France.

The event will be held from August 24 to 31, 2011 in the City of Changzhou in eastern China's Jiangsu Province.
