Iranian Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi announced that Iran has already applied stem cell method for curing different diseases, and added that her ministry supports further achievements in the field.
Unveiling of the plaque of processing embryonic stem cells' technology
In an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting on Thursday, Dastjerdi said that more than 100 diabetic, six MS, and 10 cerebral patients have been treated through stem cells method.
The minister said her ministry will support the technology to treat other patients suffering incurable diseases.
On Wednesday, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced that the Islamic Republic has achieved the technology of processing embryonic stem cells.
Ahmadinejad unveiled the plaque of processing embryonic stem cells' technology which is used in the treatment of incurable diseases.
Stem cell research is one of the most promising research areas in modern biomedicine. However, due to moral and ethical debates, it remains a controversial issue in many regions of the world.
