'Israeli strike on Iran won't end nuclear program'

US defense analyst says Israel can't eradicate Iranian nuclear weapons; 5 scientists who helped design Bushehr killed in plane crash.

Israel could cause extensive damage to Iran’s nuclear program but would not succeed in eradicating it in a future military strike, leading American defense analyst Anthony Cordesman said on Thursday.

Speaking to The Jerusalem Post on the sidelines of the Israeli Presidential Conference in Jerusalem, Cordesman also said that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was alienating Israel from the rest of the world and was a liability for Israel and the United States.

Cordesman is a senior researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington and served in the past as director of intelligence assessment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

“You can achieve short-term gains but the basic structure of the Iranian efforts would remain and such a strike would do more to catalyze support of the program in Iran than undermine it,” Cordesman said of a possible Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“It would not threaten the regime and while Israel might achieve some gains, it would not be able to restrike [if it is rebuilt].”

Take a look at yourself in the mirror and extrapolate!

They will attack Iran and will get rid of IRI filth. This is a promise.

For what it appears, you don't have any guts yourself to take on Iran from your comfortable chair. If you are a sample of the US as a whole, then the result is quite obvious!

What depressing news this must be....

What depressing news this must be for our resident anti-Iranian disinformation fake accounts like "Simorgh" and "Fred."

The fact that Israel cannot end the Iranian nuclear program by force is old news.  This has been known for at least a decade.  The only game they could hope to play is to threaten Iran with the US's military stregnth, and try to bluff the Iranian leadership into capitulation without firing a single shot.  And that bluff strategy also failed, partially because the majority of the leadership on the Iranian side wasn't buying the bluff, and partially because saner heads prevailed on the American side and obstructed the push to attack Iran.

Once it became clear that force was not an option, the only option left was to pull out all the stops and use every bit of soft power and assets inside the IRI regime in a last effort to re-arrange the leadership body of the IRI.  That, my friends, is what produced the 2009 election fiasco and so-called "Green Movement" -  movement, by the way, whose figurehead, Mir Hossein Mousavi, says Iran owes everything it has to Khomeini and strives to return Iran back the the Golden Era of Khomeini.

US and her allies (Israel)

have the power and the infrastructure to surgically attack Iran and put an end to this Islamic nightmare.  They only question is how to ensure the flow of oil. We solve that problem, we can say bye bye to the Islamic rapists taking Iran hostage.
