Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi said that the meeting of the council of ministers of the 8 developing Islamic states (D8) in Tehran was informed that Iran had increased agriculture output five-fold, Iran News reports.

Rahimi said that the Agriculture Ministry is having an 'agriculture jihad' and exported products worth $5 billion. He said that despite poor rain levels, the country is expected to feed at least 200 million people.

Iran produced 107 million tons of agriculture products in 2010. This year they expect 120 million tons, the vice-president said.
