Apprentice hopeful Melody Hossaini has revealed how she was kidnapped and held at gunpoint while growing up with her family in Iran.

The 26-year-old businesswoman, who runs a global youth consultancy business, spoke in an audition video for the show of how her family fled their home country when she was a child.

"What makes me different from other candidates is that I come from a different upbringing," she said. "I was born amid war in Iran.

"Our neighbours were bombed and we fled. I've been held at gunpoint in my own home. I've been kidnapped."

Apprentice's Melody reveals traumatic past

The Apprentice is the British spin-off of the US TV series. Melody is a young Iranian entrepreneur with her own cunsultation company specialising in helping young people. Her work has been highly praised and she has even brushed shoulders with Desmond Tutu and Prince Charles. As far as I know Melody has no ties to the IR Terrorist regime, and unless I hear otherwise, I wish her all the best.
