TEHRAN, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar called the Gulf states' accusations that Iran interferes Bahraini affairs is "baseless", the English language satellite Press TV reported Thursday.
"It would be apt for the Gulf Cooperation Council's ministers... to seek to meet their own people's legitimate demands, which would bring lasting stability and security to the region," Mohammad- Najjar was quoted as talking to the reporters on Wednesday.
In a statement issued by the GCC member states' ministerial meeting in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, Iran was accused of interference in Bahrain's internal affairs, according to the report.
Mohammad-Najjar condemned what he referred to as the Saudi- backed repression of peaceful demonstrations in Bahrain, saying that such a repression was against Islamic laws and international human rights regulations.
Iran has repeatedly denounced the allegations of meddling in other countries' internal affairs as "baseless and unfounded".
