The fuel needed for Tehran medical research reactor will be completely produced inside the country next year, the deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Abolfazl Zohrehvand said on Wednesday, IRNA reported.

Zohrehvand made the ramrk in a ceremony held in the northeastern Iranian province of North Khorasan.

"More than 40 kg of fuel for the Tehran research reactor have been produced inside the country and the rest weighing 80 kg, will be provided domestically next year," he told.

Although the West is throwing obstacles in the path of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, the country has made great progress in the field, said Zohrehvand.

In mid April, Presidential advisor Mojtaba Hashemi-Samareh said Iran will start producing plate type nuclear fuel for the Tehran research reactor in the near future.

Earlier, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Fereydoun Abbasi announced that the installation of the machinery needed for producing nuclear fuel plates has started.
