TEHRAN, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that the Islamic Republic is ready to pursue talks with the G5+1, namely the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France, plus Germany over common issues, the local English language Press TV reported.

"This issue that we have repeatedly informed G5+1 about our readiness show that we will pursue the path of negotiations if these countries are ready to hold talks about cooperation without taking sides and if they place emphasis on interaction and not confrontation," Mehmanparast said at his weekly press briefing.

"Iran emphasizes its readiness to cooperate with G5+1 on common issues," he was quoted as saying.

Also, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi expressed hope on Monday in Geneva that the meeting with the G5+1 would be held in future.

The G5+1 wrapped up nuclear talks with Iran without any progress in Turkey in January.
