Even before India's efforts to engage Pakistan on the Afghanistan issue could gain momentum, claims by Afghan agencies that Iran was secretly helping the Taliban have further compounded India's concerns.
The disclosure that Iran was supplying weapons to the Taliban, accompanied by "evidence" in the form of seizure of arms in Herat, comes just ahead of foreign minister S M Krishna's crucial visit to Tehran.
