"The implementation of the urgent plan for gasoline production will start at the zero hour tonight (24:00 Saturday night local time)," an official told FNA on the condition of anonymity.
The plan focuses on supplying the country's needed gasoline within 48 hours to curb the possible impacts of sanctions imposed by the US on the country.
The initiative first proposed by the Iranian oil minister proposes change in the production process of a number of Iranian petrochemical complexes.

maybe you shoould do some reading too.
I have some ideas but I am not expert at it. But it would be nice if you could add a couple of links. Hopefully they also mention the total investement in these areas just to compare apple with apples.

by Shah Ghollam on Sun Oct 25, 2009 01:01 PM PDTwith most if not all the industrial countries pushing towards using other sources of energy to operate cars the regime in iran is coming up with this idea only after the threat of sanctions.
they only have themselves to blame and nobody else. solar, wind, and other sources of creating energy are currently being used all over the globe and these so called leaders are still still stuck in square one.
Iran is not an energy efficient country in terms of consumption. But Iran is not alone in this regard, in fact most of the world falls in this category. Much of it is because the fossil fuel has been cheap and the Iranians culture is "since we have the oil wells, then energy must be cheap".
This discussion can be a long one but it must be noted that with all efforts that the US is putting into alternative energy, the projection is that at best all these efforts will only reduce fossil fuel for about 10%, if my memory serves me right, for a very long forseeable future. If this is the status of the US with a fat budject spent in developing such technologies what one should expect Iran as far as alternative energy? Having said that, Iran's standing in using Wind and solar energy in the region is admiring nevertheless.

The innovation
by Shah Ghollam on Sat Oct 24, 2009 09:50 AM PDTof producing gasoline with 90 Octane was was discussed a year and a half ago by a group of Iranian researchers but as the IRI is always slow it was not implemented or perhaps was put on back burner. With threats of gasoline sanctions by the US, Iran has apparently decided to implement the project and reduce its imports almost overnoght.
With this plan and other increased gasoline production projects disclosed, I am now certain that the gasoline sanctions by the West to punish suppliers will go ahead as "western resove" for public consumption mostely in the US.
I wonder what other sanctions now the Zionist senators are going to cookup now that this one is apparently defeated?
