Washington,
21 September (WashingtonTV)—Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo on
Sunday won the Emmy award for best supporting actress in a miniseries
or a movie for “House of Saddam”, a four-part miniseries that
chronicles the rise and fall of Saddam Hussein.

In the film, co-produced by the BBC and HBO Television, she played Sajda Kahiralla Tuffah, Saddam’s first wife.

The film, she said, offered examples of “what can destroy a country,” reports the entertainment weekly, Variety.

Aghdashloo
hoped the success of the film would “bring more shows that shed more
light on injustices around the world, not just in the Middle East, but
all around the world,” the Hollywood Reporter quoted her as saying.

The
57-year-old actress wore a green wristband in support of Iran’s Green
Movement, which is protesting against the result of June’s disputed
presidential election.

Green
was the color adopted by defeated presidential candidate Mir Hossein
Mousavi, who, along with fellow candidate Mehdi Karroubi, alleges that
the 20 June vote was rigged.

Aghdashloo
told reporters that those in Iran demonstrating against President
Mahmoud Ahmadined’s re-election, “shook the world with their civil
