Iran Council Finds Some Poll Irregularities

Iran's Guardian Council said it had uncovered some irregularities in the polls, finding the number of votes in 50 districts exceeded the number of voters, while riot police attacked hundreds of protesters in the capital. Witnesses in Tehran told the Associated Press that helicopters hovered overhead as about 200 protesters gathered at Haft-e-Tir Square Monday. But hundreds of anti-riot police fired live bullets into the air and fired tear gas quickly put an end to the demonstration and prevented any gathering, even small groups, at the scene. Meanwhile, Britain, accused by Iran of fomenting post-election unrest, said it was evacuating the families of diplomats and other officials based in Iran. The announcement of voting irregularities from the Guardian Council, a top review panel with responsibility for overseeing the June 12 presidential election, was the first admission by authorities of voter irregularities. But a council spokesman also said the irregularities were much less wide-spread than unsuccessful opposition candidates had alleged in recent complaints.

not a big deal?

we have to now ask the guardian council what is an actionable fraud? how big does the fraud have to be to have additional investigation?  this is pure nonesense, and i'm not a bit surprised.
