Active participation of non-Persian population in the next presidential
elections in Iran can guarantee the victory of the reformist camp
representatives, otherwise the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
will easily win the elections.

Azari Qajars?

by Gougouli (not verified) on

People on this site should learn some history before making comments. The Qajar base was in Gorgan and before that in Marv. They received Qarabagh in fiefdom from the Safavids, but lost it after that. Tabriz was chosen as the seat of the Qajar Heir Apparent (as of Abbas Mirza only)in the aftermath of the two Russian Wars.

When our own people write nonsense, how do you expect the likes of Harman to know better?

Ostaad

Captain, Iran has been ruled by the "non-Persian" folks for...

centuries. That's a fact that applies to the Iranian rulers even today. Khamenie and a lot of IRI big wigs are Azaris, Kords, etc.

The Pahlavis were Mazandarani, the Ghajar were Azaris and almost every ruler before them except the one-man-dynasty of Karim Khan Zand were non-Persians. In fact the "Persian rule" was ended with the Sasanians.

Iran is blessed to be endowed with a rich variety of ethnic groups who add to the cultural and political fabric of the Iranian nation.

My greatest hope is for Iran to move on from the present rigid centeral government system to a viable open federal system in order for all parts of Iran to flourish.
