The Visionary Shah Who Inspired an Islamic Republic
The Guardian / Elaheh Rostami-Povey

Today the majority of the population supports the prevalence of modern ideological thinking in the context of Iran and Islam. Today the democracy movement seeks a balance of power between state institutions and civil society, to guarantee the rule of law, good governance, accountability, and collective and individual freedoms – as well as the role of religion in politics. For many such a modern political structure was made possible by Shah Abbas.

What LIES!!!

by Sasan (not verified) on

This author is either a craven/sadistic supporter of the Islamic Republic or a very uncaring human being. Either way, she's no friend of the Iranian people. An example of a monumental MISINFORMATION is the following:

"The process of Islamisation has grassroots support. The leaders, a range of very different political figures with very different political views, have won the support of the majority of the population through the electoral process."

"The majority of the population?" Are you intentionally trying to mock our struggle against this criminal dictatorship? What is your agenda? Millions of us, by far the majority, despise this gang of corrupt clerics who have looted our country to the tune of billions upon billions and raped and murdered our young!

What is the British fascination with Islam in our country???

And Shariati, are you kidding me? We, in Iran, are in this "political Islam" mess because of bastards like Shariati!!! This author's deception is mind-boggling, and the latter half of her aticle is patently false! It would be funny if our present situation was not so freaking sad!

You're a horrible journalist, Ms. Rostami! You would't know the truth if it was staring you in the face because you have no shred of decency and integrity! I'm greatly saddend that this sort of propaganda piece may actually influence some people in western countries.

Just look what happened to the blogger, Omid Miryasafi, 5 weeks ago in Evin Prison. He was murdered for simply writing to Khamenei, "Do you love me as much as you love a Palestian?" And look at what the regime thugs did to Zahra Kazami, the Iranian/Canadian journalist. They pulled out her fingernails, raped her repeatedly, and finally, they fractured her skull leading to her death!

This is the sort of barbaric regime we are dealing with in Iran, and this morally bankrupt author makes it look like everything is roses in our country -- that we like this sort of abuse, that we like Islamic terrorists telling us how to wipe our asses and how to walk and dress and talk and everything else.

The Islamic Republic is a FASCIST regime, period! Don't let any apologist tell you any different!

CASMII lobbyist Soaring to...

by Fred on

Notwithstanding Rostami’s repeatedly enunciated pro-Islamist republic views and activities including her CASMII lobbying, this write up takes it to a new height. One would pity those who are not fortunate enough to be governed by the Islamist republic like system of governance.
