Khamenei Scolds Ahmadinejad on Removal of Official

Iran’s supreme religious leader publicly rebuked the country’s president on Monday over his removal of an official who organizes the annual hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The rare show of discontent by the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued in the Iranian news media on Monday, raised questions about whether the ayatollah was backing away from his support of the president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in the June 12 elections. Ayatollah Khamenei holds ultimate power in Iran, at the top of the clerical hierarchy above elected officials. If he is seen as turning away from Mr. Ahmadinejad, the president’s conservative base could take it as a signal to back another candidate

Darius, when it comes to khar kardan...

by Ostaad on

the mollahs don't have to do much to make you do some joftak and ar-ar. If you think Lieberman and Peres have any influence on Khamenei, then all that Vaseline and butter that was used to make you smile have gone to waste. Once again you have shown you're a moron par excellence

There is no election

by Iranivaliazad (not verified) on

"I hope just for the sake of contradiction that the ass hole Ahmadinejad Wins the Elections ;0)".

1) Iran president's office is not a truly elected office, as in candidates are hand picked by the leader.
2) IRI is dictatorship system ... elections are nothing more than theatrical event.
3) Leader HAS all the powers, president office has NO power. IRI president's only job is to kiss Leader's hand and say "yes sir, yes sir".

IRI is desperate to mend ties with west due to economical conditions ... I predict the leader will appoint the other "dastmal be dast" Mosavi for the position to show a "softer" side. Leader only brings out his mad dogs when oil prices gets near or over $100 per barrel.

I think Khamenei's move is in Reaction to Israeli Threats

by Darius Kadivar on

Liberman and Peres have been touring Europe for support over Tehran placing the Iranian nuclear threat as more urgent than the Palestinian conflict despite Clinton's admonishment to Netanyahu. But developments in Israel suggest a shift even in Israels friendly relations with the US. So a confrontation between Israel and Iran is still very likely if Iran's rhetoric does not change.

Now the Real question is if Khamenei's distancing from Mahmoud will be enough to beat Ahmadinejad in 40 days ?

Ahmadinejad - a hard man to beat

Very Funny

by 1hamvatan (not verified) on

This is very funny. Why? this shows that there is no elections- He already made up his mind. Just look at the subject he spoke of, hajj pilgrimages/ Mecca, Saudi Arabia was so important? Out of all the problems the country faces? Nah, he just said in his way, Ahamadi dige dosstet nadarm. nafare ba'di.

Ajab  Akhoundha Mardomoh Khar Meekonand.

As if he dissaproved Ahmadinejad overnight ...

Its cristal clear why Khamenei takes this public stand just before the elections knowing the Presidents growing unpopularity and the incapacity to break the ice with the West on the nuclear issue.

I hope just for the sake of contradiction that the ass hole Ahmadinejad Wins the Elections ;0)
