"Have you released Iranian assets? Have you lifted oppressive sanctions? Have you given up mudslinging and making accusations against the great Iranian nation and its officials? Have you given up your unconditional support for the Zionist regime? Even the language remains unchanged," Khamenei said.

by MRX1 on Mon Mar 23, 2009 06:03 PM PDTI say good that opium fested so called sypreme leader gave obama cold shoulder! At what point do liberals wake up and smell the coffee? you can not have dialogue, friendship, extending olive branch to low life's with 9th century menthality. These people interpet this kind of thing as weakness. What obama said the other day made islamo facists stronger. Welcome jimmy carter the second.
Mort Gilani, you said,
by Jaleho on Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:39 AM PDT<< Mark my word, this regime will beg for an orange revolution in 1388 when it is too late.>>
We will mark your word, funny man ;-)
The only thing orange that you might have to hang on to is your jacket! Aren't you a bit too late to notice that even the most successful of the color revolutions, the orange one, has lost is color?! That "revolution" turned out to need much more Billions to sustain it (with a B) than the millions that established the US lackey in there! You still waiting for the velvet one in Iran?!!
Ahmadinejad would be

rosie, all we know is what we have been allowed to know
by Ostaad on Sat Mar 21, 2009 08:23 PM PDTtherefore I am very reluctant to make sweeping statements about what's going on because like I am only reading what I am given to read, or hear, by the media. But I hazard a guess, purely my opinion, that Ahmadinejad will not be elected, I mean selected, to be the next Iran president. I assure you he would be in McCain had been the president now. Ahmadinejad's rise to power was based on a quasi-coupe by Iran's nascent military-industrial complex. He came from nowhere and got past Karrubi with a razor thin margin, based on what some say and I agree last minute votes by the member of the Basij and Sepah Pasdaran, two of the main branches of the IRI military which builds, runs and manages huge business enterprises and industrial sites.
Their fear on the part of those who helped put Ahmadinejad in the president's office was that the US would attack Iran and they could not afford to leave the country in Rafsanjani or Karrubi's hands.
That threat is gone now. I am sure there have been enormous amount of private diplomacy has gone on using the official but behind the scenes channels. I am sure Obama knows the answer to his Noruz statement already. All I can say is that Ahmadinejad will not be the next president of Iran. I hope I'm right, but then...
1388 will be the Best Iranian Year of Past 30 Years
by Mort Gilani on Sat Mar 21, 2009 07:24 PM PDTWith Khameni showing the true nature of Islamic Republic when Obama called Iran an Islamic Republic few times in his address, Islamic Republic in the verge of an absolute economic collapse, and a "Reformist" presidential candidate like Mosavi-e goh as the agent of change, the only option left for Iranians is to confront this regime and its ideology. I just hope a swift action against the mullahs and their supporters will end the Islamic nightmare for Iran. Mark my word, this regime will beg for an orange revolution in 1388 when it is too late.
sageh Jadeedeh Obama Mearzeh be een akhond
by mahmoudg on Sat Mar 21, 2009 07:18 PM PDTI put more value in the new addition to the white house, namely the first dog, than this akhoondeh vagh vagh koon. But then again, Mohamad and Ali were no different, cut from the same cloth. Arabs, not worth the great land of Persia these Mullahs live in. As i have said many times, the only salvation for Iran is a US surgical attack to remove these vermins.
Well good I'm glad he did it,
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Sat Mar 21, 2009 06:21 PM PDTnow more people who might otherwise have been ambivalent or planning to abstain will vote against Ahmadinejad knwing that even if Mousavi iis unable to wrest power from khamenei at least better relations with the US will occur on other fronts. I think Khamenei is shooting himself in the foot. The Reformists are very split right now and this could unify them. Obama is perceived pretty favorably in Iran. And as for Khamenei saying the language hasn't changed, that's sick. What other President has spoken eloquently about the history and culture of Iran? Even a die-hard fundamentalist has to see that the language has changed.
Now if you're one of the people who wants surgical strikes, etc. (btw you're dreamin..) you should be glad he did it too. And if you're one of the Reformists who say's Mousavi's not really a Reformist, if you agree with my logic that this could take votes away from Mahmood, then maybe you would at least aree with me that any shade on the spectrum further away from M. is an improvement.
Khamanai - Ha-mesh vag vag-e'
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sat Mar 21, 2009 05:57 PM PDTIn English the call it "killing me softly".
We are now in the Obama land, not Bush. The s.o.b is smart like a fox, and savvy one. In my view his (and Peres's) move were well planned, designed to put the old man in a box. Damn if he responds with positive approach. Damn if he is negative (as he was).
Khamanei is fearful that open channel of dialog between the West and Iranian people will be over the head of these Mullahs. They are afraid people will see the truth themselves, that neither U.S. nor Israel are their real enemies.
Now the road is open for US and Israel to show the world "you see!, we are trying the rout of diplomacy, and Akhoodah are rebuffing us,
I can't imagine where this backward so-called supreme leader gets the audacity and the over-confidence to act with arrogance as he does. With no friends left, economy is in the tank, and the eyes of the world is focused on Iran, how the hell this Don Quixote' thinks he is going to win this lose-lose confrontation with the rest of the world.

by Farhad Kashani on Sat Mar 21, 2009 01:44 PM PDTFred jaan, thanks for posting this and happy Nowrooz aziz.
IRI is not about peace, or dialogue, or reconciliation. Its declared mission is to set the world up for Armageddon. That’s not just bluff. Even the ones inside the regime who don’t believe in this are silenced because the ultra fanatics (as oppose to regular “fanatics”!) like Khamenei have hijacked the cause.
Mark my word, as long as IRI regime is in power, there will NEVER EVER be 1- Democracy in Iran 2- Peace between Iran and the world. 3- Peace between Iran and itself!
This Islamic revolutionary status will only result in oppression of the Iranian people and tension and (god forbid) possible war with the world.
