Iran's focus on movie misses the big picture

Shamghardi, quoted by the Iranian news agency, demanded an "unreserved apology" from Hollywood for "30 years of insults and slanders." He also cited the film "300," based on a graphic novel, saying it was blasphemous. This cartoon-like movie depicted the battle for Thermopylae in 480 B.C. and portrayed the Persians as barbaric. I wonder whether Shamghardi has ever seen American movies about the ancient Romans, the Spartans, Genghis Khan or the United States in Vietnam.

I'd have to agree. IRIB should be concentrating on a lot more important things right now. But just for the heck of it, how about if IRI first apologizes to families of the Khavaran victims for all the hurt it has caused them for twenty years? How about if they apologize to the Iranian nation and families of serial murders victims? How about if they apologize to every Iranian man and woman for having mistreated and disrespected them for their choice of apparel? First things first.

My Pre Condition to Excuses: Have a Glass of Milk ;0)

by Darius Kadivar on

Iranian authorities should allow the showing of Persepolis in all Iranian theaters and on TV and un censored. As well as the Film MILK with Sean Penn as Gay mayor of San Francisco with a special screening for Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and Rafsanjani in the first seats. And have them make public excuses for claiming that there are no gays in Iran  ...

After all Sean Penn visited Iran too to great success and Rafsanjani called him a great actor:

apologizes

by Rugs-Lover (not verified) on

I think it is good that these kind of movies which demonize Iranians are protested against. Imagine if they make movies demonizing jews. There would be all kind of groups demanding apology and heck the accused might even serve jail time. It is true that IRIB should the first to apologize to Iranian people for imposing their fanatic, religious views on Iranians. Imposing an arabic culture and religion on Persians (which was brought to Iran by rape and swords).
