Iran said on Monday it has agreed with the EU to continue talks aimed at resolving the nuclear crisis but again insisted it will press on with contested work despite the threat of more sanctions.

Top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili spoke by phone with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, the pointman for six major powers which have offered Iran an incentives package in return for a freeze in uranium enrichment activities.

Their talks came just days after European Union nations last week introduced fresh sanctions against Iran over its atomic drive, which Western nations fear could be a cover for a secret nuclear weapons programme.

"The two sides agreed to continue negotiations in a constructive atmosphere," Iranian state television reported. "Solana and Jalili voiced satisfaction at the constructive trend of negotiations in Geneva and the contacts afterwards."

In Brussels, Solana's office confirmed the conversation but gave no details.

"We still hope to solve the problem with Tehran through the diplomatic route, but if that's not possible, it will be necessary to continue on the path of (UN) Security Council sanctions," a European source in Brussels said.

"The objective is to keep the door to dialogue open with Tehran with these contacts."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad however reiterated that Tehran will press on with its nuclear programme, despite the risk of fresh U... >>>

Abarmard, you are a traitor

by Farhad Kashani on

Abarmard, you are a traitor to Iran, its civilization, its values and its people, by supporting an illegal and illegitimate barbaric, fundamental, savage, brutal regime that has destroyed Iran.

You need to clear your logic (lack of it). An illegal and illegitimate regime that has hijacked power and silenced the Iranian people’s voice, cannot talk on behalf of Iranian people and claim that this nuclear technology is for the “people”. What has the IRI provided for the “people”? Since we’re talking economics, lets talk economics. Iran has one of the worst, closed economies in the world, one of the highest rates of unemployment, one of the highest rates of inflation, one of the highest rates of corruption, one of the biggest dysfunctional beaurucracies in the world, one of the lowest foreign investment rates, a class gap that is 100X worst than pre revolution, and the list goes on for days. So who are you trying to fool? Please don’t fool yourself cause you ain’t foolin anybody!

I am the first person who supports Iran’s right for nuclear energy, but at the same time, the first person who opposes any leverage for the regime.

Why?

Why is your title Buying time to make the bomb?

Treason against the Iranian interest is shameful!

Iranian position has not changed and the majority of the Iranian people agree with this one issue. Most Iranians are united to understand that one can not trust the west in providing the sources of Nuclear materials regularly. We have the technology to do it ourselves, so why not?

Your position is either from hating Iran or lack of understanding about this very issue. Your disagreement with the Islamic Republis should not take your Iranian pride or nationalistic sense away. One should not cloud his/her logic similar to MKO. The technology is for Iran and Iranians not a government. Even if the government collapses, this will be a part of our knowledge, a useful knowledge. Just check and see how many hospital equipments have been produced in Iran just because we are learning more and more about this technology. Please correct your thinking and terminology.
