Iranian students take sixth place in Intl. Chemistry Olympiad

THRAN, July 22 (Mehr News Agency) -- Bagging one gold, two silver and one bronze medals, Iranian students ranked sixth in the 40th International Chemistry Olympiad, which was held in Budapest, Hungary, from July 12-21, 2008.
Amin Ahmadzadeh-Bejastani won gold, Mohammad Zargarpoor and Mina Taheri snatched silvers and Pedram Bakhshaei-Shahr-Babaki gained bronze medals at the competition.

A total number of 261 students from 67 countries participated in the event.

The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) is an annual academic competition for high school students. It is one of the international science olympiads.

The first IChO was held in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1968. The event has been held every year since then, with the exception of 1971.
