Because of my work, I could not travel in March so I scheduled my trip for Saturday March 31st. It was shocked at how expensive travel during this time of the year is, and I found out the hard way that is the beginning of Travel season! Tit was my first time using a Middle Eastern airline which was rated 5 star (I am not sure by who) but all I wanted was to get home because they had discovered a tumor in my dad’s stomach and he had had a few sessions of Chemotherapy>>>

پارلمان ایرانیان مهاجر و تبعیدی یک ایده است و تحقق آن به خواست جامعه ایرانی خارج کشور منوط است. اگر این خواست تأمین شود، توانایی هم به دنبال آن خواهد آمد. مخالفت با آن اگر از زاویه بدبینی باشد، در فرهنگ سیاسی جامعه ایرانی قابل فهم است. ولی اگر نیروهای سیاسی با آن به مخالفت برخیزند بیش از هر چیز عدم اعتماد به نفس یا نگرانی از وزن و نفوذ خود در جامعه ایرانی خارج کشور را به نمایش گذاشتهاند>>>

ابن میَمون قرطبی یکی از آخرین فیلسوفان "دوره ی زرین" حاکمیت مسلمانان در اندلس و مغرب بود که به پیروی از ابن رشد، فارابی و ابن سینا گرایش به نزدیک کردن فلسفه ی ارسطو به دین داشت. فلسفه ی او به سن اکویناس کمک کرد تا به فقه کاتولیک نظمی اسکولاستیک بدهد و از سوی اسپینوزا و دیگر فیلسوفان دوره ی روشنگری چون نقطه ی آغازی برای صعود به قله ی خردگرایی به کار گرفته شد>>>

استاد ذبیحی بلند قّد بود و درشت اندام، دستهای کشیده و صورتی که اندک تَه ریشی بر آن بود و در ایاّم عزاداری با مَحاسن او را میدیدی. دَستاری سبز به کمر داشت و کلاهِ مُفتیِ فاطِمی مِصریْ بر سر میگذاشت و همیشه به گلاب قمصر معّطر و شیرین گفتار، با مرام و با وفا. پدر بزرگوار ایشان شمیران زاده. اهل دَرَکه و حوالی آن بود و در تمام محل آنچنان احترام و اِکرام داشت که مُعتمدین شمیرانی بِدینشان قسم میخوردند و حلاّل تمام نَذرها و مشکلات>>>

I have a few Islamic clerics, mullahs, on my list of Facebook friends. They are fun to be connected to. Physically, their distinguishing features are a black or white turban immaculately wrapped around their head and a long beard they call mahasen, nice qualities. Sometimes during a conversation, they will move their turbans up or down to draw attention to themselves, or to signify their control of the situation, or simply to scratch their consecrated heads>>>

بالاخره بعد از یکی دو هفته کلنجار با خودم تصمیم گرفتم ترس و محافظه کاری را کنار گذاشته و آن چه که در این مدت در برنامه ی گوگوش موزیک آکادمی دیدم و درک کردم را بیان کنم. قبل از شروع می خواهم از تمام دوستان خوبم که از طرفداران خانم گوگوش هستند خواهش کنم یا این مطلب را نخوانند یا سعی کنند با دیدگاهی منطقی به کلیت داستان فکر کنند>>>

I discovered Jean Chardin’s name by coincidence in a dictionary of biographies. I learned that just like Tavernier in 1665, but barely at twenty one years of age, Chardin also went as far as India in search of rare diamonds. I was immediately intrigued all the more that this young ambitious man had written many books on Persia with great detail and accuracy. After reading one of his books I was puzzled. I needed to know how a young French Protestant Jeweller was able to become an expert on Persia and publish a first book in 1670>>>

Yesterday my mom invited me to see a film in French that she’d heard good things about. Little did I know as I settled into my seat I was facing, not a screen, but a mirror. It’s one thing to watch a mother-child film with your mother. But it takes it to another level to watch the tale of a Middle Eastern mother’s experience with your mother -- who happens to be an immigrant from said region herself. Specifically, Incendies is about a woman whose death prompts her children to realize that maybe they didn’t know her at all>>>
