Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd

Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd was one of the best selling albums of all time (40 million copies.)  Many say it was because of the incredible vocals of Clare Torry on "Great Gig in the Sky."  She was a studio musician at the time.  Alan Parsons requested that she come in and sing improvisationally to the track laid down by the band.  She did and was paid 30 pounds for her work.  In 2004 she sued Pink Floyd claiming that she composed the vocals by improvisation.  In other words, because she "wrote" the vocal lines by improvising, she should have been paid as a composer with royalty interest in the composition.  Frankly, I was very disappointed in the members of Pink Floyd and their management because I believe it was Clare's vocals that sold the album.  She should never have been forced to ask for a share.  They settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.  What do you think?

Thanks for the link Rainbow.  Yes indeed, the Dylan always had a way with words and it seems he still does.  :)
