"Israel's Tehran connection
Israel, while supposedly observing an ironclad boycott of all things Iranian, is happily buying Iranian oil
Richard Silverstein, Guardian
April 4, 2008
If you've ever wondered about the definition of hypocrisy you'll find the answer right here.
Last month the Swiss foreign minister visited Iran and, together with President Ahmadinejad, attended the signing of a multi-billion euro contract for Iran to supply Switzerland with large amounts of natural gas over the next 25 years.
The US State Department immediately condemned the deal and said it would be investigating whether it breached the Iran Sanctions Act. Israel complained too, describing the Swiss minister's visit to Tehran as an "act unfriendly to Israel". Various Jewish groups also joined in the protests, including the World Jewish Congress."

Who are Blood Sucker?
by . (not verified) on Fri Apr 04, 2008 11:23 AM CDTBlood suckers' objective is to kill and destory all independent-minded and free people of the world. They occupy others' territory (as in the case of Palestine) and destory and boloze homes and kill bread earners of families. That is what makes blood suckers happy. Blood is their life-line. The zionist regime in Tel Aviv is the "master blood sucker". All sanctions and destructions originates from them. Unless and until the world wakes up to the action of these few blood suckers sucking blood off the vein of humanity, nothing will change.
Its hard to use logic with blood suckers

I agree with Afshin
by Kamangir on Fri Apr 04, 2008 06:21 AM CDT... and to that I'd add that even if there were commited soldiers or individuals to fight, this fight is a completely different one. Air raids can be potentially devastating with no option for retaliation for Iran.
I truly hope, something stops this madness from happening. The IRI can be removed without a war, the problem is the US is after regime change, only and only after having destroyed Iran's infrastructure so the halliburton or other similar companies will re-build it, a process that then would take long decades to come.
I'm totally against the IRI' mafia but at the same time absolutely against an attack on my country.
Re:
by Ben Madadi on Fri Apr 04, 2008 05:20 AM CDTI wrote a couple of years ago or so when many Iranians were saying that there will be an attack, and I was saying (reasoning) that there won't be any attack any time soo. I can't find the article right now with the new system of the website.
I still DO NOT think the Bush administration will attack Iran, i.e. no targeted airstrikes. Ground invasion cannot even be put into question. That will not happen for years and years to come. Iran is a big country and the last thing the world requires is to have a huge oil disruption and a grinding invasion of a huge mountanous countyr. No way! But having targeted airstrikes against Iran's nuclear sites is not something to be dismissed entirely, however I do not see it happening for now. Americans will try to fix this issue when their nex president will come to office. There will be renewed negotiations (nex US president and Iran) and I think that both sides will make some concessions at least temporarily. However I am pretty sure (sure) that IRI want the atomic bomb and in the long run, if nothing serious is done, they will have the bomb, and that will be very bad for Iranians, for the region, and for the free world.
The Inevitability of War
by afshin on Fri Apr 04, 2008 03:51 AM CDTI think there are a sufficient number of proponents for an air strike on Iran. The Iranian naysayers, are simply in denial or perhaps ignorant of the awesome airpower America can bring to bear against any country, especially Iran. Keep in mind that Iran's crème of the crop fighter jet the F14 was recently "retired" by the US Navy. The kind of weaponry the US has could literally send Iran back to the Stone Age within days. I as an Iranian can assure you that I will hate to see even a single VAJAB of that beautiful country to come under attack. But we must face reality. We can't simply wish this issue away. Iran will be attacked because chances are they are trying to develop nuclear weapons. I know I know, the usual question of how come the Jews and Pakistanis have it? Well the Jews and Pakistanis haven't been a thorn in the side of the US for the past three decades. And let's face it, detente has not been in the lexicon of the current Iranian President's armamentarium of words. He's essentially made a mission of pissing off everybody he can. Perhaps he was justified in his comments. Maybe Israel as a state should cease to exist because Zionism is a racist ideology that places the welfare of Jews above all else. But, and this is the most important caveat, he's been literally throwing out the baby with the bath water. There's a Persian proverb that states, "Zaban-e sorkh sar-e sabz ra be bad khahad dad!" This cannot be closer to the truth when it comes to the current President's policies. Through rhetoric, ignorance, and sheer stupidity Mr. Ahamdinejad has placed the very territorial Integrity of Iran under threat. If Iran is attacked it will take generations to bring it back if ever. So the logical question you might ask is, "Now what?" Well what we can start with is convert this nuclear issue from a nationalist issue to a political issue. It's true Iran will be a net importer of crude within our lifetime. But, being a net importer of crude in the short term far outweighs Iran becoming another Iraq. And to the non-believers let me just say this, the Neocons don't give a rats ass whether Iran would retaliate and how. And chances are once they are done leveling every bit of infrastructure Iran has, the Mullahs will have nothing to respond with. You simply have no concept of the power of modern warfare. It's true our (Iranian) soldiers fought bravely against Iraq in the 80's. But I can assure you, when America comes, it will be with such a thundering roar, that the mostly conscript military will desert and run. And even if they don't run, the fight will be over before they'd know about it. Iran is a paper tiger. The thugs in Tehran are heavily hedging their bets that America will not attack because of this myth of retaliation. The Mullahs are over stating their nuclear know-how just to rally the national moral against a foreign existential threat.
We have to act now. To actively campaign that the government of Iran place a moratorium on enrichment and engage in comprehensive negotiations to reach an equitable settlement with the rest of the world. War does not need to happen. It can be avoided. We have not reached critical mass YET. But I can assure you that time is fast approaching. The only way we can save Iran from utter destruction is to convince the Iranian government we will not back them. That we will not be a party to their active destruction of Iran. And keep in mind the Iranian Government has to actively pursue nuclear weapons, because they believe it will assure their longevity. Don't think for a second Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. They are, and they'd be stupid if they didn't.
Iran/Russia (World War 3)
by 007 (not verified) on Fri Apr 04, 2008 01:15 AM CDTHey Bardia Joon
I have been going to Christian Academy for four years. Our Evangelical Zionists who support Israel do not believe in IRAN WAR. There is a prophecy in Ezekiel 38 that IRAN and RUSSIA will form alliance against ISRAEL. IRAN is the new Soviet Union. The Baghdad Conference was the Final Showdown between the two leaders: Bush and Ahmadinejad. EUROPE is becoming the New Roman Empire. CHINA is the Asian superpower. LATIN AMERICA is formingn a coalition. We are so caught up with energy crisis, stock market crash, and economic recession right now and IRAQ was the major quicksand for our troops. Afghanistan is becoming unsafe once again. ALI LARIJANI, the Iranian nuclear negotiator wants MEK (MOJAHEDIN) to be handed over for trials against his people. We have to cut a deal. IRAN is a precious nation with ancient history and Prince Reza Pahlavi does not consider himself a prince but a neutral politican who favors regime change by Iranian people. It is their call. They should make it happen.
Re: Bardya analogy does not have any basis in reality
by Ye Irani (not verified) on Fri Apr 04, 2008 01:10 AM CDTI have hard time to understand the logic that IRI is actually brought to power by US or Englis! This is just as unreal as saying that Israel is actually going to give to palestinians their peace of land.
It is so obvious to see that there exist major strategic difference between USA and IRI. They may share same tactics with Republicans, since they are of the same nature, but having a same strategic vision(?) seems so obsurd.
The only reason I see USA not attacking Iran is the fact of "Balance of power" in middle east. In one hand, USA likes to have a democratic nations "On-Leash" in the middle east but this is something of a DREAM. On the other hand, US likes to have some oppsosing force in the region to wave it as a bat over the head of puppet Arab regimes to milk the petro money away. As long as this situation is in equilibrium, there will be no attack. As soon as the balance tips over in favor of Iran, then expect all thehell break loose no matter it's republican in power or democrat.
The good news is that all Irans might is magnified by western propaganda to demonize IRI and show a bigger "BAT" over the head of puppet Arab rulers. The bad news is that this propaganda is like a double-edge sword and it is indeed also working in favor of Iran. The other side of balance of power is Iran vs. Saudi ruling Muslim world. This is the complicating factor in the region and an Ace in the pocket of the west. All this antagonistic measure such as Nuclear issue, Econo sanctions, Human rights and etc. are the playing fields to weaken Iran. The irony is that it is actually hardening IRI and is becoming more resilient fighting machine. It has been a tremendous learning curve for IRI to play its vitality. If you consider IRI foreign policy of now and 15 years ago, you will see a vast improvement.
As our elders say: siasat pedar madar nadareh!
US Airforce Might!
by Kamangir on Thu Apr 03, 2008 11:49 PM CDTThe recent turmoil in Iraq, specially in the city of Basra and the attacks on the green zone of baghdad, were coordinated and carried out by Iran and Iran backed entiries in Iraq, just to show what Iran can do (actually that was nothing compared to what Iran can really do in Iraq, if attacked)
In my opinion; this is not just a psychological war against Iran, but there's enough evidence to consider the possibility of such attack, very, very high. There're several US navy warships and vessels by the coast of Lebanon and Israel in order to support Israel against any threat, after Iran is attacked. Fallon was simply dismissed, because such attack couldn't be carried out with him in his post, he was firmly against it. Out of all US army forces, only and only the air force is in favor of such attack, as this will be a great chance to show their air power might (and yes; US airforce is really mighty and pretty much free to spend time on Iran)
This would be very counterproductive for Iran and Iranians as I doubt such attack would remove the IRI from power. It's said that the targets will definitely include government entities, as well as the entire Sepah and army besides the basic infrastructure of iran.
I think that knowing the serious consequences of this, the US will use maximum power and intensity in carrying the the attacks in order to minimize any Iranian reponse. I think it's not matter of if but when, probably sooner than later.
I like Bardeea's analogy

America will not attack Iran
by Bardya (not verified) on Thu Apr 03, 2008 09:22 PM CDTThose well informed could write books on this subject, but to my humble opinion, Republicans and Iranian regime are playing games we call "Jang-e Zargari". The scenario of this game was written in 1975. Remember that "Green Band" around Soviet Union? The republican party was working hard behind the scenes (and behind Jimmy Carter) plotting this revolt right under the nose of the Shah (some believe the Shah himself was a party to the plot, i.e. he slod us all!). Everyone knows who brought khomeini to power. When he referred to US Embassy as the den of espionage (Laaneh-e Jasoosi) he was telling the truth, only he didn't say that they were spying for him not against him! And when he said "Amricaa heech ghalati nemitooneh bekoneh" he was right again, he had their assurance already under his mattress! It is no accident that all nationalistic movements to tople his regime were unsuccessful because his American/ British spies were hard at work discovering such plots and betraying our patriotic heros.
Bush will never attack Iran, cause he needs a make-belief scape goat in the Middle East to wage the 'cold war' so that they could control the oil flow from the Middle-East to the last drop. It is not too improbable that a similar deal JF kennedy signed secretly with Castro of Cuba (ironic isn't it, a Communist regime right in their underbelly even after the dismantling of Soviet Union!)has been signed with the Mullahs of Iran, not to touch them, but to be free to wage a psychological war for the benefit of both sides.
So my dear Khawnsaari honey keeper, you can keep your rotten honey until it turns into mead, cause no war's coming your way!
