Video: Empire or Humanity?

Narrated by Lord of the Rings star, Viggo Mortenson, this video retells in the first-person, world-renown American historian, political commentator and activist, Howard Zinn's political awakening and steady realization that the United States had before his very eyes, ceased to resemble its national mythology founded on the principles of liberty, freedom and justice for all, he had read about in his history books as a young man. By contrast, he witnessed the disingenuous denials that his nation had been transformed into a predatory Empire in the course of the Cold War, and later the brazen promotion and projection of American power, obfuscated and sold to the American people in the name of 'humanitarian intervention' and 'democracy promotion'. The animation is great too...

Narrated by Viggo Mortensen.  Art by Mike Konopacki.  Video editing by Eric Wold.  The video is based on Howard Zinn, Mike Konopacki, and Paul Buhle, A People's History of American Empire (Metropolitan Books, 2008).

You're welcome

You're welcome Abarmard...anyway through which we can spread al little awareness...the only problem is that you rarely get appreciative comments on this site unless the person in question is in agreement with the points made. Pity really...Glad you enjoyed the vid; I'm actually interested to find our more about Viggo Mortensen's political views - another Sean Penn perhaps?

Everyone should read

by Abarmard on

the History of the American people by Howard Zinn. It's a must.

Unfortunate for the people in the US, some of these thinkers, who are still alive and internationally recognized for their work, are absolutely unknown.

No Media in the US has ever brought these people to introduce their work and ideas to the people. Democracy!

What is the difference between those who call the thinkers of our time a leftist, or a liberal to supposedly demonize them, with those who make books and authors illegal? While they are actually not "liberal" or anything, but philosophers and thinkers who have arrive to their conclusion with a life time work behind them. Who have dedicated their lives not to follow Fox news but to search and find the truth.

Thank you Sadeq, nice post
