You ruined my day sir with your comment below. But that is okay, I have had so many of my days ruined thinking about why we are so determined in destroying our land, our history, and our people. Even the poor Cheetah is not safe in that country. Let me tell you a short story that I heard on the radio. There was a very big project to build a big shopping mall, park, school, etc. in a neighborhood in N. Calif. When they were digging the purchased land, they found some bones, apparently indicating presence of some native american graves. They made a big fuss out of this historical event and abandoned the project for review. Americans value even few bones of their natives and we don't give a damn about anything iranian. That said, I will go to your web site to see how I can provide my very negligible help. I hope I can find some doable project there, that I can contribute to, as I do not think that purchasing items from Christi is practical; it needs lots of money and a place for safe keep for a long long time. But if I can help saving a single Persian Cheetah, I will sleep slightly better. Please post your comment if any. With high regards sir.

We can do it if ...

We have SO MANY things to worry about that this is small in comparison.  

Let us learn that there is a cost to live and keep our belonging.  Nothing is free.  Let us thank JJ of iranian.com for making it possible to come together.  Support iranian.com, there is a cost to operate it.  Advertisings do not cover all of the expenses.  

In the past, I have started over thirty projects.  Iranian.com has a sample of my activities.  Take a look of my write-ups.  My latest activity is on behalf of Asian Cheetah (Youz plang Irani ya Aseyai).  There are less than fifty of these creatures left and all are living in Iran.  With the help of several people, we had a relatively successful gathering in Iran on August 31, 2007.  I wrote a short report and submitted 40 pictures.  Here is the link if you missed it.http://www.iranian.com/main/albums/rescue-missionThis creature is not religious or political.  So I expected many people to offer help.  Guess how many contacted me?  Ten.    Guess, how many people offered to help financially?   One.  The person offered two hundred dollars more than one month ago. 

Guess how much I have received so far?   Zero.  Zilch.        We need legal help.  In the U.S. cost about $300 per hour.  We tried in London to go after several agencies for using a wrong name, but gave up because our few thousand pounds did not go very far.  We have many brilliant and successful Iranian lawyers both in the U.S. and Europe.  Once I donated money towards students’ scholarship at Mr. X house in Newport Beach California (it was 2004).  Mr. X is a successful Iranian attorney and has his own law firm in Costa Mesa.  More than forty Iranian lawyers were present.  I made a speech about our community needs.  More than ten offered to help? 

Guess how many has help so far?   Zero.  Zilch.       I have about 100 more examples because I started my activities when I was in HS in Tehran.  If I have not been successful to accomplish more than what I want is because I cannot do it by myself.  We need money.  We need space.  We need everyone’s help and support.   I think no place is safe for us if we act they way we have.  I have purchased expensive books and artifacts which one day I would donate to an Iranian museum.     There are nights that I do not sleep well and I have nightmare.  If you check any encyclopedia, you will see that many of our belongings are in Private Collection holdings either in Europe or the U.S.  There are million of these items.    Three years ago, I was walking in Tehran’s Bazaar.  I saw a tall and blond person.  I did not say thing.  The night which I was flying to London, he was in the same flight.  Where they were checking our suitcases, we met and talked for half an hour.  He said he was from England and came to Iran to purchase things to sell in London.  He said if you bend and pick up something in Iran, that object has a value and Iranians do not appreciate what they have.    I need to tell another story which is recent.  NIPOC is an organization which brings Iranians in Southern California together.  Many of its members have good jobs, drive good cars and live in nice houses in Irvine and surrounding cities.  They were holding their monthly meetings at Hyatt hotel.  Hyatt Hotel is one of the abusers of Persian Gulf name.  We kept writing to NIPOC to change the place of its meetings, finally after three years a member of its executive committee replied that the reason they hold their meetings at Hyatt was this hotel gave a little better deal than other hotels in the area.    

If I were not working on other projects, I could offer more than 1,000 (US dollars).  Another person, I think it was Hot News offered $1,000 too.  So far we have $2,000.  Is this all the money we are going to have?  Is that how much you care?  Crying and using profanity towards others will not help our community. 

We can do better if you help.  You care because you are reading this post.  So take an action… as the saying goes . . . talk is cheap.

I feel and share your pain and grief .I do agree with Foad and Hot news, Also to dear Souri, what guarantees that after buying and returning it back home, it's not going to end up in another auction  somewhere else tomorrow ?

people like Redwine or D. Khar-divar have as much interest in historical items of Iran past as neocons and Zionists have for peace in the middle East. All these historical and invaluable artifacts were shipped out during or prior to bloody Pahlavi regime. Redwine conveniently forgets that these items were put on a platter and given to UK and the US through the years of monarchist regimes dating back to pre-Pahlavi era.

I remember when M.R.P came to Chicago to participate in the opening of University of Chicago Middle East center. In addition to giving them millions of dollars, he also brought number of historical objects in the hope that the center name a place for him. Well the center took all it could and recently is giving them away to so called plaintiffs who have been awarded millions of $ but no way to collect them form Iran current regime. Although Iran current regime is not blameless but they are dealing with countries that appointed themselves prosecutor, judge and the jury by passing draconian laws to allow courts to rob other nations historical artifacts that belong to the people of the country and not the government of the country.

I hope one day as Greek have done it, it would be possible to get back these jewels of Iranian historical heritage.

A different view

Hamvatanane aziz: there is a suggestion from Professor Ala on this web site for buying these items. I am willing to participate in that to the small extent that I can, but the problem is that we have no place to keep them, and it is not safe to send them to iran under current conditions. If we cannot do that, and I know you will all scream at me, it is better to be sold, hopefully to be bought back in the future, than to be claimed by iran due to unstable situation in iran. Here is why: An article in the magazine Iran Heritage was saying that Ayatollah Khalkhali had ordered destruction of some of stone and metal pieces from iran museums, calling them khar-mohreh. That may happen again. I also read that when soviets were bombing central asian rebels many years ago, bombs hit one of big libraries in one of the major cities (maybe samarghand or bukhara, but not sure) and destroyed many thousand-year old precious books in flames. That can happen too to these items. I am very sorry to say this, but as long as we don't fully appreciate these items (as seem by several comments on another article on this site) they are safer to be sold to unknown faces rather than those who don't care about iranian culture. thank you, please be civil if you wish to express a counter point.

I can' t understand

I can' t understand everybody is screaming and crying for that soldier has been sold, but nobody care enought to go and buy it and return it to the country !
We have lots of rich businessmen/women in USA and also in Europe who can pay even for going to the space , why not they get together at least to presarve our hertitage and would prefer to make so much noise and screaming after that auction has been done on it?
Are we again " hypocrite" ???
