Although I'm a de facto Atheist my work is inspired by religious subjects.
Here I have drawn Gustave Doré's etchings for Dante's Inferno but with a familiar logo
Here is the poem:-
Inferno, Canto 7: The souls of the avaricious and the prodigal forced to roll heavy stones
Here saw I people, more than elsewhere, many,
On one side and the other, with great howls,
Rolling weights forward by main force of chest.
They clashed together, and then at that point
Each one turned backward, rolling retrograde,
Crying, “Why keepest?” and, “Why squanderest thou?”
Thus they returned along the lurid circle
On either hand unto the opposite point,
Shouting their shameful metre evermore.

Hi DK
by ramintork on Wed Jul 29, 2009 03:37 PM PDTIt is good to see you on top form, I'll be visiting France soon, but will go to Luxemberg, Switzerland, Italy, then back to French coast otherwise I would had come and see you.
Gustave Doré is brilliant. What do you think, did I do justice to his work?
When you do a drawing and manipulate it in photoshop all sort of things can happen! Just kidding I wanted this to look like a etching.
I'm not sure he would have liked me to add the IRI logo but if he knew how it matches his vision of Hello he would perhaps forgive me.
Ramin Jaan I love Gustave Dore
by Darius Kadivar on Wed Jul 29, 2009 03:29 PM PDTHe also inspired the works of Peter Jackson on his Remake of the classic King Kong.
There is something really magical about his work.
I think he also inspired TIM BURTON on his upcoming work: Alice in Wonderland as it did for Sleepy Hollow:
