Nematollah Aghasi (1939-2005) brought more joy to Iranians than any ruling Mullahs ever have. He died on this day four years ago. Below is my translation of his most famous song.
Ameneh - by Aghasi
My heart, saddened from your spite
In my chest, sadness reside
My heart’s dwelling, destroyed from sublime
Why is this tradition of the time!
Ameneh, your eye, my wine’s chalice
Ameneh, your frown, my pain and malice
My life is on fire from your deed
Your passion won’t leave my heart, indeed
Ameneh, my heart, for you it beats
Ameneh, don’t afflict, my heart bleeds
Ameneh, your name is my pain and misery
Ameneh, without you, my heart, my life’s agony
My heart gone mad with your mystery
My life drowning for your necessity
Your affected manner, my wine cover
O by God! Your manner!
Ameneh, your name is my pain and misery
Ameneh, without you, my heart, my life’s agony

by Souri on Thu Nov 05, 2009 06:22 PM PSTFarnoush aziz,
Yes that's the one!! How did you find it? You don't know how much you made me happy, dear. Many many thanks. I had this song for a long time in my mind but couldn't remember the lyric.
Farrokhzad once had sang it in duo with Aghassi and I'd really loved the song from that day on. Again, many thanks.

by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 08:23 PM PSTThank you for your comments. However in my view the 'This is JJ's site and he doesn't have to explain anything to anyone. We are all guests here. We can take it or we can leave it.' is not a very democratic way of looking at the issue. Nor do I consider anyone a 'guest' here. Traffic brings ratings and with it advertising money.
I really don't wish to engage on this topic any further with you. So let's agree to disagree.
That's what I mean by pecks! Man-boobs! LOL. I'm outta here!

by Farnoosh on Thu Nov 05, 2009 06:03 PM PSTMultiple Personality Disorder:
Thank you for this post and for the reminder about Nematollah
Aghasi. He was indeed a national treasure and a very unique
entertainer. No one has come close to what this man brought to Iranian
entertainment scene.
Souri Khanom:
Is this what you are looking for?
Holly USA:
This is JJ's site and he doesn't have to explain anything to anyone. We are all guests here. We can take it or we can leave it. I don't want to see another good blog deleted or a discussion thread closed. Though there are no set policies about our conduct during discussions, most people know to stick with the subject, no policies needed.

by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 05:55 PM PSTAround 1:07 or may be 1:17 But it is there for sure
I didn't see the pecks! Those are just shoulders, like MPD says
by Anonymouse on Thu Nov 05, 2009 05:55 PM PSTEverything is sacred.
To add to your list, he also did these things:
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Thu Nov 05, 2009 05:53 PM PST.
- Shook his shoulders back and forth really rapidly.
- Bounced his teats up and down, one at a time, left, right, left, right,... Very difficult to do. He was very talented. I dare you to give it a try.
Merci Holly

Here's the hair
by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 05:43 PM PSTBTW let's not forget Aghasi's unique style of dancing
by Anonymouse on Thu Nov 05, 2009 05:33 PM PSTHe had 4 unique pioneering dancing style points that I can remember, please add if I missed anything
1. Taking a napkin and shaking above head
2. moving his hair on his head automatically back & forth
3. moving his eyebrows
4. moving his pecks!
I tried to look for his moving hair and pecks but couldn't find anything. Bahram's 2nd link and this one has some of them. If you can find a link for moving hair and pecks please post.

by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 05:28 PM PSTI just saw a post by JJ on some not very attractive Iranian dude who likes to cross dress. Am I wrong, or have all the calls for policies remained unanswered by JJ? If someone has seen a response lately please advise.

MPD
by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 04:47 PM PSTI saw that comment. I thought it was offensive too but that's commonplace here and SOMETIMES it is better to ignore the ignorant in my view (othertimes a good slapping around is better)
I may have posted as a reply to his comment by accident but that is a less than fair way of monitoring especially when we keep demanding and begging for clearly stated and consistently enforced guidelines to no avail.

by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 04:48 PM PSTMy comments included thanking MPD and expressing my sadness over the shallowness of people, especially my fellow Los Angelinos. Soussan had a terrible ending to her life whereas there was no need for it to be that way but people here didn't think of her as 'classy' enough and so not much was done to support her in life or in her time of need.
And please don't start a fight on any of MPD's blogs. He seems highly sensitive to anything that 'may' be seen as leading to 'possible' confrontation.
Holly, There was a comment by "bot shekan" that is now deleted
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Thu Nov 05, 2009 04:39 PM PSTI thought that comment was offensive. There was no profanity in that comment, but the man had spent a few seconds to trash what I worked for several hours to create. I don't mind it if someone spends several hours to trash what I create in a few minutes, but no, doing it the other way around is just wrong, it's offensive, that's what I call offensive.

by HollyUSA on Thu Nov 05, 2009 04:38 PM PSTThanks but the bulk of comments on the site are 'questionable' ;)
So what was ur comment & what can we do to start a fight here?!
