Yes Amir, the responsibility was squarely on the US ....
by Bavafa on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:14 PM PDTBoth morally and legally, the occupying force is responsible for the safety of the occupiers. And those deaths (in the way and numbers) did not exist prior to the illegal war by the US. So, you may want to go and white wash the crimes and blame it on Arabs which is your prerogative, but those are facts and remain as such.
AO: Then in essence you agree that the US and IRI are pretty much the same and ought to be condemned equally, which I do so.
Perhaps next time in one of your fun writings, you will put that to exercise.

Price to pay for taking hikers hostage...
by bahmani on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:11 PM PDTThe justification offered by the restaurant owner tells it all.
Once again, when we are hurt, especially even in jest, suddenly we are proud and brave.
But when we are he perpetrators, there are all sorts of blind excuses and justifications and idiocy we spew to detract from the ugly act we committed.
I say WE, because as Iranians we are all ultimately responsible for Iran. This Iran especially. Those f us living free outside of Iran, even more so.
While I am sad to see such a poster, I am sadder that we are continually at a point that invites this kind of hatred. This depiction, with a turban isn't us.
The real way to get the poster taken down is to ask why, then when we are told, to apologize, and do everything we can to point out the inaccuracy in the mis-characterization.
Which is, Iranians are traditionally, mostly, historically not Moslem, nor Arab. Nor do we as a people believe in taking hostages.
And like Texans we too love a good BBQ, although our recipes differ.

There we go again....
by Disenchanted on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:10 PM PDTThere comes the bunch that under the guise of being anti IRR regime justify any violation of Iranian civil rights and Iran's interests.
We can just hope that new version of IC would have an application that shows "true intention"/"real affiliation" of the commenters! ;-)
How about this picture? Offensive to Americans?

Would you guys be complaining, and would NIAC be writing protest letters, if Iranian flags were being set ablaze in Texas or DC?!!!
MR. Ala we are not children, you have conveniently left out
by Mehrban on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:07 PM PDTcrucial details of this story. Your mis-characterization of this thirty year old poster serves no other purpose but to ignite fear in the Iranian American community. Is that what you want to do?
For the record,
by AMIR1973 on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:04 PM PDTThe poster is indefensible, and the person who put it up is a moron and a racist.
Solution
by Anonymous Observer on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:09 PM PDTNIAC should tell the IR to stop taking American diplomats hostage and to stop celebrating the hostage taking thity years later:
//farsnews.com/imgrep.php?nn=13900813000451
Welcome to the real world. You f**k with people and people will f**k right back with you. Iranians should take a look in the mirror and set aside their narcissism before they complain about others.
And I agree with Mehrban's comments. This is not indicative of a "rise" of anti-Iranian sentiment. This is old news.
many hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian death in Iraq
by AMIR1973 on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:02 PM PDTWere Iraqis and other Arabs killing each other, just as Arabs kill each other by the hundreds of thousands in Sudan, Algeria, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, etc.
It was idiotic 30 years ago & it is stupid today!
by Disenchanted on Fri Nov 04, 2011 02:01 PM PDTIt is racist, boneheads like this Texan who give US a bad wrap!
An for the anti sentimentalists, what about images of blacks being lynched posted in harlem? I guess that would be ok too because that was decades back!!
It is amazing that no matter how repugnant or stupid is an idea there are some on IC who come out defending or justifying it!
Every day news of war and the latest sanctions are the proof....
by Mohammad Ala on Fri Nov 04, 2011 01:58 PM PDTEvery day news of another war and the latest sanctions are the proof for the summary.
The summary of your blog is sensationalist and misleading
by Mehrban on Fri Nov 04, 2011 01:50 PM PDTTo say that "Anti-Iranian sentiment in the USA is on the rise" when talking about a 30 year old poster is simply a lie and is inflametory.
Yes, it has been there for thirty years...
by Mohammad Ala on Fri Nov 04, 2011 01:46 PM PDTYes, the poster has been there for over thirty years and the owner has not given a damn to previous requests.
Thanks Mehrdad jan, you said it well.
So these cowboys are bragging as what they did to Indians???...
by Bavafa on Fri Nov 04, 2011 01:42 PM PDTSuch barbaric and thuggish attitude of the West, Texan in particular which we saw well when one of them made it to the office which resulted some many hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian death in Iraq and we are being called “such sensationalists”. And in regards to “Fear mongering”, can we say that with a straight face?
As if it will make it OK, since it has gone on the wall some 30 years ago. That just proves the barbarity of these bunch.
Kudos to NIAC for spearheading the call for this racist poster to be taken down.

Please stop being such a sensationalist
by Mehrban on Fri Nov 04, 2011 01:35 PM PDTAccording to the article posted by Iraj khaan in the news setion,
the poster ..."went on the wall when Americans were held hostage during the Iranian revolution 30 years ago."
This poster as offensive as it is, has been up for thirty years. Hence your title of anti Iranian sentiments on the rise in the US is a) false (if this is your evidence) b) sensationalist.
What do you get out of this fear mongering.
