This is a picture of Mohammad Mokhtari. He was a young Iranian man who dreamed of regime change for freedom in his country. He made a brave decision to head to the scheduled street protests on February 14, 2011 in Tehran. Mohammad Mokhtari was a young man filled with love for his nation, for his fellow citizens, for humanity. He chose to stand up for justice on the day of love.

The response to his protest was a bullet to his forehead. He died in the hospital.

Mohammad Mokhtari would have turned 23 years old today.

Even after his murder, the Iranian authorities haunted his family through harassment and threats.

May we carry on the path to freedom and fight for justice in honour of the same reasons why Mohammad Mokhtari chose to risk his life on 25 Bahman (February 14th).

Mohammad Mokhtari's last Facebook status before his murder read: “Oh God, please give me the honor to die on my feet, for I am tired of living seated and humiliated.”
