Bush Behind Iran NIE

kabab
by kabab
05-Dec-2007

Looking back at the run up to the Iraq war, it's now evident that NIEs, instead of informing policy makers, have themselves become policy making instruments used to advance existing agenda. Put another way, this adminstration has always been able to cook the books with respect to NIEs.

So why, you might wonder, the apparent embarrassing mess up with
this latest NIE? Are we to believe that this NIE somehow "slipped" into
becoming declassified?

Time columnist Robert Baer (a former CIA field officer assigned to the Middle East, and author of See No Eviis) writes "there is also no doubt that the Bush White House was behind this NIE." He argues there's basically no way for an NIE to become declassified this way if it were not supported by the president.

My Iranian Friends

by Dr. Henry Kissinger (not verified) on

I would like to share with you a secret. This whole business of the new "NIE" on Iran's Nuclear Weapon Development is because of only one thing:
*
George W. Bush made a "deal" with your Mullahs: You Stop the Killing of our Soldiers in Iraq; and we will tone down the rheoteric on your "Nuclear" Program.
*
"CNN" reported over the weekend that US Casualties in Iraq are "down" dramatically since June. Also, the Casualties for The Iraqis, Dead and wounded, are also significantly down.
*
My message to all of you Neo-Cons and Iranians who want US to invade Iran: "Don't Hold Your Breath". I am afraid, this Bird isn't going to "Fly".
*
The "Mullahs", through their "Craftiness", have managed to come to some kind of a "Grand Bargain" to avoid being toppled.
*
Let's call it the "Deal of the Century".

Chera hamatoon geer dadeed be Massoud? I, for one, agree that IRI is as trustworthy as a priest at a Boyscout camp. Same with George and his comrades on this side. Somehow, though, your blatant hostility toward Bush makes it seem like you're kissing the Akhoond's hairy ass.

What evidence is there . . .

by Parviz (not verified) on

Masoud, I hope you read the posts and get out of your rut. What evidence is there that Iran had nuclear program before 2003? Where is the evidence? Bush and Cheney or Rumsfield are going to provide that evidence? You are rutting in your hole without you know it.

Let us not mix our people with government. No one, I mean no one can attack Iran without walking over our dead bodies.

Thanks for Iranians whose hearts beat for Iran.

If the report is all true

by Bavafa on

Then it is sad to hear that they abounded their effort. I was hoping they come up with at least one nuke, big enough to fit MassoudA a$$, though that might need to be a large size missile if it was going to fit right.

MassoudA jan,

I am just teasing you, keep on supporting Bushies after all they need what LITTLE support they can get.

Lessons of Iraq Aided Intelligence On Iran

by NIE (not verified) on

Slow down! The information is just starting to trickle. NIE didn't want to end up becoming another embarassement like Iraq WMD fiasco. Read the below article from Washington Post. This is a big milestone in shifting politics of Bushism I'll do it my way, to a more sensible and defendable policy. Next interesting and important milestone will be the presidential candidate's response.

Israel Lobby At Work Again

by Anonymous123 (not verified) on

Psychological warfare to downplay the NIE report and convince the world that bombing Iran is still a good idea. Israel should be called a "Psychology State" instead of a "Jewish State." Its government has nothing to do with Judaism that I can see. But it uses psychology and public brainwashing techniques all the time. Just look at some of the comments on this site by their protectors.

All empires have rotten from within eventually!

There is no way the president of the US didn't know about the content of this report in advance. This is a stupid way of saving face that only dummies like masoudA and some naive Americans would buy. The truth of the matter is that they picked a big stone (threat of war) and then realized that they couldn't throw it! Now, they have invented this phony story. Whether they blinked or not - that's not important.
After all of these blunders, I wonder if there is any credibility left for America in the world.

Masoud A what do you know

by XerXes (not verified) on

What do you know? which part made you hurt? the part that I blasted against your Bush? go talk about "Bush's democracy" during your football game while you smash beer cans on your forehead and stop talking none sense. None of your business if IRI is in Iran or not, since it won't change your life right? Are you planning to go back? Or do you wish to sit in your home while the "American Liberating" force "free" Iran "for your majesty"? You are not going to help Iran, so pay your U.S. taxes and enjoy your life, what's YOUR business with Iran?

Read the article first

by mama (not verified) on

Professor masoudA,

You should first read the article that Kabab posted. The article says exactly what I said. Bush, in order to get out of the Iran ordeal with some face, invented the NIE report.
In other words, they blinked.

Kabab is Correct

by masoudA on

I think the only dummies here are simpletons like Xerxes and mama - who seem to be grasping at any straws to keep the status quo in Iran - god knows for what sake.   The most significant aspect of this report is: IRI had a nuclear arms program - which means IRI is not to be trusted and doomed.   And that is good news to all true Iranians.

as I said before they blinked, as simple as that

No Bush is just an idiot

by XerXes (not verified) on

Don't give this little dummy any credit. He has been trying to demonize Iran and fight. his plans hasn't worked because he is dumb and Chaney is a Dick. So This came out because the American people have had enough and the parts of this administration is breaking lose from these Nazis. So don't think for a second that this was "Bush's" plan. I mean only stupid dumb idiots forget about all his mistakes and the horrible conduct of his administration and try to still bring excuses or make him look smarter than he is. American Empire is dead because of him. Go tell that to all the Fox Idiots news.
