It was disgusting how CSPAN promised to televise Iran President's speech at the Columbia University and his interation with the students, but as soon as the University's host finished his pro-Israel words and other popcorn matters CSPAN decided to switch to Senate session and that is what happened and we could not watch the rest of the program. They aparently contined on CSPAN 3 but sure enogh it was not among the available channels in our area! Why did they switch as soon as he was supposed to start talking?
My friends the degree of propaganda and press control in this
country is becoming extremely high, the issue here is not Ahmadinejad
but it is the censorship in America. This is what lead to invasion of
Iraq and it is the same censorship that will lead to further
manipulation in Iranian affairs.
We learned in America that if you want to be objective you need to
listen to both sides of issues, but thanks to censorship masters of the
news media there are obstacles to objectivity and this is precisely why
there is such division among Iranians abroad because all forums are
controled by someone who is being paid to censor.
The question is no longer Shah vs. Khomeini, the question is how to
stand up for your motherland. My point here is not to discuss the
regime in Iran but rather the regime in USA, we alredy know about Iran.
What a shame!

it is about credibility
by Anonymous on Mon Sep 24, 2007 07:29 PM CDTno-name agreed! but his comments about homosexuals took away any credibility he could possibly have – that is why I was upset about it. Otherwise considering that his job is to defended himself and his regime, he did almost OK

Bollinger's speech gets an A.
This man is a habitual liar.

He Made many points; he will talk with US; US support of Saddam
by no_name (not verified) on Mon Sep 24, 2007 06:52 PM CDTMA made several points, including agreeing to talk to US. Of course he asked for mutual respect, but that should have been the headlines and not the gay issue.
But I wonder how the gay point is going to resonate with the Christian rights who support Israel. Given Israel liberal views toward gays and government subsidized abortions.
Changes from within .....
by Anonymous on Mon Sep 24, 2007 06:19 PM CDTHe really messed up big time by saying “There are no homosexuals in Iran…..”. Only if he could dance around this issue as well. As they say “t is better to let people think you are stupid than start talking and remove all doubts”. Regardless how evil he is the changes for Iran has to come from within not from USA
Another outrageous claim: "
by Anonymousq (not verified) on Mon Sep 24, 2007 04:08 PM CDTAnother outrageous claim:
" But as for women, maybe you think that maybe being a woman is a crime. It’s not a crime to be a woman. Women are the best creatures created by God. They represent the kindness, the beauty that God instills in them. Women are respected in Iran.”

"There are no homosexuals in
by Nohomo (not verified) on Mon Sep 24, 2007 03:28 PM CDT"There are no homosexuals in Iran"--Ahmadinejad
The only new thing in his boring speech was this:
""'In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country. We don't have that in our country. In Iran we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who has told you that we have it."

Mahmud's Big Apple treatment
by Fred (not verified) on Mon Sep 24, 2007 03:21 PM CDTAlthough Mahmud got a tidy public dressing down by the President of the University, you did not miss much. The same everything is honky dory in the Islamic Republic baloney. Cspan announced early on this morning, and repeated it number of times, that the entire shindig at Columbia will be broadcast on cspan 3. Israelis might have their hand in lots of things,BTW good for them, but not this one.
Thank God for youtube..
by TESLA (not verified) on Mon Sep 24, 2007 03:05 PM CDTAre you surprised? They aired what they wanted people to see. On the other hand, the whole thing is going to pop up on youtube any minute. One good thing about technology is that it is an antidote to censorship.
It was on several webcasts
by Anonymous on Mon Sep 24, 2007 03:03 PM CDTIt was on several webcasts and on several cables but you had to pay for it. Plus, everyone has heard his tired old speech. Many have it memorized...

The only new thing in his speech was this:
"'In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country. We don't have that in our country. In Iran we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who has told you that we have it."
Insane liar.
simple Israeli censorship
by no_name (not verified) on Mon Sep 24, 2007 02:58 PM CDTWhat most Americans do not realize is the amount of censorship in US through the force and intimidation by the Israeli Lobby.
