This working musician, Mario Cancino Peña, walked into the Cafe Journal, in Valparaiso's old port district and played a few songs. Before he left, I asked if he would sing the most popular local song he could think of. He said it's called "Cantor de Valparaiso" (Los Cuatro Cuartos - La Joya del Pacifico). Isn't it beautiful?

Thanks so much Red Wine. Very interesting background information. The original studio version of the song is nice, but I like Mario's better :)

Lovely and wonderful song by Jorge Farias... This is a typical Chilean waltz song (this version has a european touch, the version of Peru and Argentina is easier on the ears of those who do not know Spanish) .The song speaks of the beauty of this city and is a nostalgic song for a the people of Valparaiso. Is very romantic and very famous in the Latin world and danced very stuck between women and men.

Thank you Jahanshah ... I had good time over there many years ago,I hope that you have a good trip. You deserve it amigo .
