We had our usual weekly phone conference with the Iranian.com team last night and we discussed the addition of another artist to our music festival in San Francisco on Sept 26. I mentioned it would be great if Lily Afshar could come. I emailed her and fell asleep, hoping to to hear good news in the morning.
I woke up and my wish came true. Lily had emailed back that she would join our line-up.
Lily is well-known to the Iranian community in the Bay Area where she has performed several concerts. She is among the most-skilled classical guitarists in the world and currently heads the guitar program at the University of Memphis.
I've seen her twice in concert and she is quite amazing. She plays classical pieces as well as popular Iranian folks songs with incredible grace and beauty.

I just wish she would play a little more spanish guitar, I mean spanish pieces, like what is that piece, asotria?! A little more cha cha cha ;-)
