A belated thanks for eventually honoring me with a reply! I guess your friend Samsam (aka Amir Bahman) must have had a hand in it!

On racism: Thanks to the revival of the Shiite values in the last 30 years, Iranians were suddenly made aware of their pre-Islamic identity (adoo shavad sabab-e kheyr agar khoda khahad). In a violent backlash to 1400 years of subjugation to Islam (which many like little Samsam khan see it as equal to Arabic subjugation) Iranians have decided to ethnically cleanse their language and their faith. I expect you, more than others, with a degree in Persian literature, to have known that the Farsi we speak and write today is so heavily Persianized that is incomprehensible to Arabs. Even the Arabic words that we use have long lost their original meanings and have acquired new Farsi meanings. Also the branch of Islam, Shi'a, that Iranians follow,is a Persianzed version of Islam and has its roots deep in the pre-Islamic worship of the Kings of Persia by their subjects. This is why the rest of the Muslem world regards Shiites as heretics. So these Anti-Arab sentiments are in my opinion baseless and quite unncessary.

p.s. - if I wished to read Satire, I would read Hadi Khorsandi and not this tasteless piece.

As you might have noticed ,I don't care for "Unverified" comments on my blogs,but in your case I make an exception,since :

1-I see you're arguing your case in a polite & somehow academic way.

2- My friend Samsam is defending me & I donot want to leave him alone.

I was a devouted Muslem,still respecting true Muslems,have very good Arab friends,but I hate what has been & is being done to Iran,in name of Islam , by phoney Arab-lovers.I enjoy listening to " Ume Kolsum","Farid ul Atrash" as well as Shajariyan.At least once a week for lunch at work I order delicious "Shwarmeh" from an Arabic restaurant.

In case of posting this,dear friend,learn to admire satire,w/o jumping to conclusions.

With all due respect, I am not surprised by your rhetorical response but I wondered why Ebi, who posted this useless artcile, has remained silent. Perhaps he hasn't bothered to check this thread since he posted it.

But going back to what you argue and the line up of all the names that you have thrown at me, let me make it simple for you. ALL of the cases that you have mentioned have explicitly or implicitly lent their movements to the race issue. In simple and moderm terms they were indeed racist.

But ALL the examples you cited refer to the early days of campaigning against the supremacy of one culture against the other. Now after 14 centuries you are suggesting to ethnically cleanse the language?!! You obviously have no idea that if arabic words are removed from the modern Farsi, you will not be able to make a single coherent sentence. With all due respect due to your age and experience I am not suprised at your flawed argument but I am surprised why Ebi should make such a funny mistake.

By the way, Farsi is not all about Ferdowsi - there were many more giants of Persian literature who used Arabic like "noghlo nabat" and nobody said a word against them.

So in conclusion my dear, you are a little racist Bakhtiari Khan. Sorry but there is no better way to describe you.

until 18...but if not wanting cultural occupation & language assimilation is racism then Babak,abu muslim,Ferdowsi,Tibetan under china rule,French & Irish against anglocizing,Berbers of north Africa,Kurds in Iraq,Greeks under ottoman rule..and billions more are all racist.. not wanting  incoherent ,alien words in my mother tongue is a right just like the right of choosing dress ..comparing this to ethnic bias or ethnic cleansing is a far fetched logic..

Anti-Arab feelings among Iranians are expressed in a number forms and contexts. They can be expressed in terms of hating their physical features, a distaste for their music, art and culture, or as in your case and Ebi's, it can be stated as a dislike for their language and their faith.

All these forms of expression have their roots in racial bias. Now you can choose and mix as you please.
