WANTED: Did Nazi Criminal Alois Brunner train Syria’s Security Forces ?
by Darius Kadivar
02-Feb-2012

Resident in Syria - possibly dead. Commander of Paris internment camp, deported thousands to death camps under orders of Adolf Eichmann. Convicted in absentia in France but never punished. To this day Alois Brunner - now 90 - has successfully evaded capture. He is believed to live in Damascus using the name of his cousin Georg Fischer, though in December 1999, there were unconfirmed reports that he had died in 1996 and was buried in a Damascus cemetery. Brunner is reported to have been a security adviser to the Syrian government long before Hafez Assad came to power in 1970. He's said to have invented a torture machine—a variant on the medieval rack.

Presumably Dead?:

French correspondent Georges Malbrunot’s article in Le Figaro suggests that Alois Brunner probably died in Syria in 1996 and buried at Dar Dah cemetery in the outskirts of Damascus ( see article in French Here)

About Alois Brunner:

Alois Brunner was born in Austria in 1912 and joined the Austrian Nazi Party in 1931 at the age of 19. His anti-Semitism was considered to be so extreme that he was swiftly tapped to be Adolf Eichmann’s private secretary. As head of the Nazi’s Jewish affairs office in prewar Vienna, he organized persecution that forced thousands of Jews to flee to other European countries and the United States.
When World War II started, he sent 47,000 Austrian Jews to concentration camps. After organizing mass roundups in Berlin, he transferred to Greece, where he was responsible for deporting all 43,000 Jews in Salonika within just two months.

In June 1943, he was sent to France to take over the Drancy transit camp near Paris from its French administrators. During 14 months in France, Brunner sent an estimated 25,000 men, women and children to their deaths.

A survivor, Georges Appel, later recalled that Brunner's mean, cruel demeanor was matched only by his immoral behavior: "He would beat elderly women, and ordered the inmates to prepare Postcards saying that all was well with them." These were mailed after they had been sent to the gas chambers ..

Brunner often sought after young Jewish women, either pregnant or with infants, to join the deportation to the Nazi death camps. As he said: "I can't let children live. They will be future terrorists."

Once Brunner ordered the arrest and deportation of more than 200 French Jewish children. They were loaded aboard the crude cattle cars without any adults to accompany them and were never seen again, according to author Didier Epelbaum in his 1990 book Alois Brunner.

SS Hauptsturmfuhrer Brunner also transported the children of Izieu to Auschwitz. One of the most wanted of all war criminals, Brunner was responsible for the killing of thousands and thousands of Jews.

After the War:

After WW2 Alois Brunner  found gainful employment courtesy of Reinhard Gehlen and the CIA. Gehlen, Hitler's top anti-Soviet spy, surrendered to the Americans and offered his services. CIA took the bait and Gehlen re-established his spy organization, and enlisted thousands of Gestapo, Wehrmacht and SS veterans. During the Cold War Gehlen's network of agents received millions of dollars in funding from the U.S. From 1956-68 Reinhard Gehlen was Germany's Chief of Federal Intelligence Service.

Later Brunner escaped to Syria where he became a government adviser. To this day Alois Brunner - now 90 - has successfully evaded capture. He is believed to live in Damascus using the name of his cousin Georg Fischer, though in December 1999, there were unconfirmed reports that he had died in 1996 and was buried in a Damascus cemetery.

But German journalists visiting Syria in 1999 said Brunner was living at the Meridian Hotel in Damascus under police protection. Brunner is easily identifiable, having lost an eye and several fingers from letter bombs sent him years ago by French and Israeli security agents.

With the release of Adolf Eichmann's memoirs, Alois Brunner, whom Eichmann once called his best man, was again in the news. Brunner was already sentenced to death in absentia in France in 1953 and 1954; more recently, a new suit was filed there based on his sending children to Auschwitz. Previous attempts to persuade Syria to release Brunner failed. Germany applied for his extradition in 1987, and in 1991 the European Parliament voted to condemn Syria for continuing to harbor the alleged war criminal.

In 1995 German State prosecutors in Cologne and Frankfurt posted a $333,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the last leading Nazi still believed to be on the loose.

Germany, Austria, Slovakia, France and Poland currently seek his extradition but until now the Syrians have ignored all attempts to extradite him, including those by Simon Wiesenthal.

The famous Nazi-hunter and Holocaust survivor Simon Wiesenthal has made the pursuit of Nazi war criminals his life's work and has spent more than half his life doggedly gathering information on the whereabouts of fugitive Nazis. In his introduction to

In the Lion's Mouth by Joan Campion he writes:

"As these words are written, Alois Brunner, perhaps the most outstanding surviving Nazi war criminal, is living as a free man in Damascus, Syria. Human justice did not get to this man. He committed his crimes not only in Slovakia, but also in Austria, France, Greece, and Yugoslavia, yet he has nothing to fear. All attempts to have him extradited have been refused. It seems that in Syria the murder of Jews is not a crime."

Brunner was interviewed about 15 years ago in the Austrian news magazine Bunte. He said he did not suffer from a bad conscience for, in his own words, "getting rid of that garbage." His one regret was that he hadn't murdered more Jews.

In 1987 in a telephone interview Alois Brunner told the Chicago Sun Times:

"The Jews deserved to die. I have no regrets. If I had the chance I would do it again …" (See Original Source Here)

Unconfirmed Footage coming out of Syria hint

Video shows entire family massacred in Homs (FRANCE 24)

Activists in the Syrian city of Homs released a particularly worrisome video Friday. It shows the bodies of at least ten people – of whom five are children, four are women and one is a man – laid out in a room. Their bodies are covered in blood, and some of them are disfigured.  According to one of our Observers in Homs, Rami H. (not his real name), this video shows a family from the neighbourhood of Karm Al Zaytoun. He says all 14 members of this family were killed on January 26 when “chabbihas”, militiamen who work with Syria’s security forces and army, paid a visit to the neighbourhood. According to Rami H., who spoke with neighbourhood residents, the chabbihas barged into several houses, apparently picked at random. Then, according to the residents, they took the people they found in these homes out into the street and ran them over with cars.  New images of killings in Syria are posted to YouTube every day. However, this video particularly shocked Syrian web users, because they show women and children – the youngest of whom seems to be at most two years old – killed in what is described as a random and barbaric manner.  According to Rami H., 29 people were killed Thursday in the neighbourhood of Karm Al Zaytoun alone.

Le Pen: Allies More Blood on hands during WW2 than Syria's Assad

by Darius Kadivar on

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen spent much of last week carefully deflecting journalists’ probes into her party’s stance on Syria – only to see her plain-spoken father quash her efforts Sunday when he brazenly defended Bashar al-Assad in an interview on French radio.

Describing the Syrian conflict as a civil war, former National Front (FN) leader Jean-Marie Le Pen said that it was “not abnormal for the Syrian state to defend itself,” and that Bashar al-Assad should not face criticism from countries who fought Nazi Germany during World War II.

His comments came just days after his daughter, presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, was grilled on the subject herself. Appearing in a live TV debate on state channel France 2, Le Pen junior managed to evade the issue by arguing that there weren’t “only bad guys or good guys” in Syria. “I just hope Bashar al-Assad won’t be replaced by Islamist fundamentalists,” she concluded, firmly dodging the question.

But her 85-year-old father had no qualms in weighing in on the issue. “Bashar al-Assad is a government leader who is facing a rebellion which is both civil and military,” he declared. “I don’t find it abnormal that the Syrian state is defending itself.”

He then went on to dismiss the deaths of 6,000 people killed in the conflict, weighing the casualty count against that of Allied operations during World War II. “Yes, there is shelling every minute, every two minutes [in Syria]… But within just 30 seconds in Tokyo, 100,000 civilians were killed. In Nagasaki, Hiroshima, 80,000 were killed. In Dresden, 200,000. The people who carried out these bombings on civilians should keep quiet about Mr Assad and his 6,000 deaths over six months.”

Adding insult to injury, Le Pen also read out a poem by French Nazi sympathizer Robert Brasillach.

Four consecutive days of shelling and bombing by Syrian government forces into the besieged city of Homs have left residents cowering, afraid to escape and fearing for their lives.

That's how activists in Homs described the situation Wednesday. One, identified for his safety only as Abu Rami, said he heard explosions every few minutes from bombs launched by unseen forces outside the city limits.

Not even infants or medical crews have been spared, he said, calling it "a huge crime against humanity."

"They are shelling from a far distance," Abu Rami said. "They are using many kinds of weapons -- heavy weapons, anti-aircraft, they are using nail bombs."

As the Syrian army launched a fresh assault on Homs, pounding the city with mortars and artillery fire, footage has been released showing the impact on civilians and children in particular.

The United Nations Children's Fund said heavy shelling of civilian neighbourhoods in the city of Homs was "undoubtedly causing further suffering for more children".

As people tried to leave a building which had come under fire, a man carrying two children followed by a crying child could be seen fleeing to safety, as Lucy Hockins explained.

And, making a comment about Iranian.com, if it is not out of order...

When I discovered this site, I don't remember if 5 or 6 years ago, I was pleased to see the very good taste and intellectual ambiance that pervade this forum.

In the other forums in which I participate(d) I always said: "Go to Iranian.com ... go to see how intelligent, honest and well mannered are the participants of this forum. You will find here of everything, from Poetry, Photo Essays, intelligent and as much as possible, objective articles, etcetera. No comparison between, say, the Cuban exiles - a gang of thugish pornographers, that just claim for terrorism and invasion against the birthland - and this intelligent and  even somehow patriotic Iran exiles".

However, every time that tensions between Iran and the USA escalate, this site overflows with the same thugisness and mendacity as any regular US corporate Media.

( Like equating "Syrians = Nazis"... who they think they are fooling, I wonder? )

However, I hope that the good things that this site still have, survives for a long time.

Some Arab observers in Syria ‘for pleasure' (France 24)

Some of the Arab league observers were more concerned about getting nice hotel rooms and visiting the capital Damascus than reporting objectively on the deteriorating security situation in Syria, according to the head of the mission.

Some members of the Arab League Observer Mission sent to Syria in late December 2011 to monitor the deteriorating security situation behaved as though they were on holidays, according to a damning appraisal by the head of the mission.

“Regrettably, some observers thought that their mission in Syria was for pleasure,” wrote Sudanese General Mohamed al-Dabi in a summary of the visit by the 166 observers, leaked on Wednesday. One Arab diplomat in Paris, who asked to remain anonymous, told FRANCE 24 the report “borders on the grotesque and highlights the amateurism of the Arab League, which was grossly unprepared for its mission.”

by Sirius on

Thank you Darius, but we already know what is the version of the sold-out institutions of the West.

 Here is the other version....

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/NB04Ak01.html

Excerpt:

++++++++++++++++++++++++

"....  The Arab League's Ministerial Committee had approved the report, with four votes in favor (Algeria, Egypt, Sudan and GCC member Oman) and only one against; guess who, Qatar - which is now presiding the Arab League because the emirate bought their (rotating) turn from the Palestinian Authority.

So the report was either ignored (by Western corporate media) or mercilessly destroyed - by Arab media, virtually all of it financed by either the House of Saud or Qatar. It was not even discussed - because it was prevented by the GCC from being translated from Arabic into English and published in the Arab League's website.

Until it was leaked. Here it is, in full.

The report is adamant. There was no organized, lethal repression by the Syrian government against peaceful protesters. Instead, the report points to shady armed gangs as responsible for hundreds of deaths among Syrian civilians, and over one thousand among the Syrian army, using lethal tactics such as bombing of civilian buses, bombing of trains carrying diesel oil, bombing of police buses and bombing of bridges and pipelines.

Once again, the official NATOGCC version of Syria is of a popular uprising smashed by bullets and tanks. Instead, BRICS members Russia and China, and large swathes of the developing world see it as the Syrian government fighting heavily armed foreign mercenaries. The report largely confirms these suspicions.

The Syrian National Council is essentially a Muslim Brotherhood outfit affiliated with both the House of Saud and Qatar - with an uneasy Israel quietly supporting it in the background. Legitimacy is not exactly its cup of green tea. As for the Free Syrian Army, it does have its defectors, and well-meaning opponents of the Assad regime, but most of all is infested with these foreign mercenaries weaponized by the GCC, especially Salafist gangs. "

+++++++++++++++++  (End of Excerpt)

Of course, if you live in say, the USA, a media like Asia Times online is an unexistant voice against all the array of mendacious pseudo (dis)Information Media.

But then again, no one sees an obcene channel like "Fox News" outside the USA.

And Russia and China, are much closer to Syria.

There is enough historical evidence to show how the early islamist fanatics were used by Nazis during the war as obedient/brainless foot soldiers. I was watching a documentary  recently about some bosnian muslim members of Waffen SS  who were captured by Red army after Nazi defeat in Stalingrad. It showed how they were shot by Red Army troops one by one, like the dogs they were, for being the members of SS . So this news about Germans Nazis training the wanabe nazi assad, comes as no surprise to me.

As for  "sirus the mexican", back to basic training for you brother, you are just too obvious.

I believe you are a very intelligent poster, Darius Kadivar.

I will even say that I am willing to believe that you are a good-willed person... which is a long shot in a site like this.

You could be sure that I will not defend much more the IRI more than I have already done.

( "It is not my fight", as Vin Diesel / Riddik said in that famous movie. :D )

++++++++++++++++

Still, I would say that Iran have gone a long way into modernizing itself, educate its people, and creating an stable and prosperous country in stark contrast with most of its neighbours, which are the ones with wihich Iran should be compared.

What is more, I think that right now, Iran could compare favorable with many countries of Europe in many aspects.

Have you been a helper for that to happen, Darius? Or you worked against the current history of your people?

When you critisize Iran, do you do it as an Iranian? An American? A "Therangelino" :D ? A Western citizen?

++++++++++++++++++++

I admit that I personally will not live in today's Iran, since I would lack the cultural background to adjust to that society - and by the way, and knowing what I know, I will feel almost as disadjusted living in most Western countries.

But Iran is for Iranians, and Western countries are for Western minded people.

Do Iranians are given the chance to be themselves?

Why do we see this 24/7 assessination of a Nation,  when they have not invaded any country, or proven to have engaged personally in terrorism abroad?

From here, I send my best wishes to the Iranian people, to continue to do good things to themselves, and to continue to  have the heart and courage to help other peoples.

HOLOCAUST A MYTH: Michelle Renouf on Iranian SAHAR TV

Why has the IRI contributed to giving us Iranians a Bad name all for it's own wretched and short sighted political gains ?

So You might as well go and do your homework Kiddo !

All the more that The Palestinian Israeli conflict had nothing to do with the direct concerns of Iranians to begin with.

Jews and Iranians have been on good terms traditionally since the times of Cyrus the Great :

THE IRANIAN: Features, 2,500-year celebrations, Cyrus Kadivar

We even had our Iranian Schindler :

BBC News - The 'Iranian Schindler' who saved Jews from the Nazis

So this only proves that all this controversy over Iran's bellicose intentions towards Israel are the unique product of the IRI's very own political rhetoric of the past 32 years since the inception of this Un Iranian Regime:

SOURCES OF FURY:Nader Naderpour on origins of IRI's "Death Slogans" towards US and Israel

And not of the Western World they hate so much.

Now that some Israelis particularly it's current Leadership may find it convenient to put all Iranians in the same basket as the Nazis or the current Religious leadership ruling my country ... That is entirely a different debate.

But what excuse does the IRI Leadership have ?

Was it not particularly naive to publically deny the Holocaust knowing the sensitivity of the subject in West all the more that they were seeking support from many European Nations who were ready to help them in developing their nuclear program during Khatami's Reformist era and probably would have continued on that trend were it not for the IRI's recurrent aggressivity on this subject.

After all Europeans in general often proved to be hostile to American economic supremacy and also because when it comes to business they want to have their lion's share.

So what was the point ? Even to this day the IRI is spitting on the west yet demanding their help including is wanting to sell them Oil ...

So again what was the Point of the IRI to insist on such irresponsible comments by giving the convenient argument to Israel to label them for wanting to Wipe out Israel ?

Now feel free to go and claim that the Mullahs in Iran are not suicidal but don't try to Bull shit me into thinking that they are in addition wise or Responsible Leaders particularly to us Iranians who have have had far more competent, patriotic and wise politicians in our history than these Medieval Madmen !

But the degree of violence that the likes of Bachar El Assad or Gaddafi or the IRI have exerted on their own people cannot be dismissed as a cheap shot at these regimes merely because you think that what they stand for is better than what you have in the West.

As such the Syrian Government ( as opposed to the Syrian People) should be held accountable for the crimes it has commited in the past as well as the one it is commiting today on a daily basis and to general indifference of the Russian and Chinese governments.

The case of Alois Brunner is a well known FACT !

In the face of what is taking place in Syria today it is also Chilling to think that the Syrian Security forces were trained by former Nazis hence putting to practice what they may have learned or inherited in terms of sadistic methods of suppression.

Lastly you cannot claim to be interested in "Crimes against Humanity" commited Today if you contribute to their Banalization when commited in the Past:
