Nasser al-Din SHAH QAJAR). (1831-96) King and Shah of Persia, 1848-96. Third longest reigning monarch in Persian history after Shapur II and Tahmasp I. A reformer, he introduced a modern postal system, railroads, a banking system and newspaper publishing. He was also one of the first Iranians to be photographed. HIs authoritarian rule earned him many enemies and he was assassinated in 1896.

by Darius Kadivar on Mon Jan 18, 2010 07:45 AM PSTDon't take my comments too seriously here.
If you think he looks Gay that's fine with me.
I don't think he does that much but I guess It is a question of perspective.
It seems to me that The Scotland Guards

or the Knights of the Garter

look far more ReGaylia in comparison...
but personally I like Pomp and Circumstance and Feathers in uniforms which has dissappeared in most modern day Outfits particularly for the military.
In French we call it "Panache" !
But in the end it all depends who wears it. Not everyone is fit for such clothes.
rouh Fanni-Zadeh shaad basheh
by Souri on Mon Jan 18, 2010 07:09 AM PSTHe worth much more than Naserodin Shah et ol....
He did much more for the people of Iran than all those kings did.
Thanks for the great clips. I truly enjoyed
DK jaan what part of reGaylia dont you understand?!
by Anonymouse on Mon Jan 18, 2010 07:06 AM PSTDK jaan are you playing with me? I'm not the first person to mention an outfit as being gay, am I?! I swear to god you show this photo to any red blooded self-proclaiming and proud gay and he will fall in love with the regaYlia and will ask you where can he get a hold of such outfit for his next outing! Show it to anyone, gay or straight, French or American, and just ask him/her if he looks gay and s/he laugh and say YES!
It just doesn't get any more gay than this! Forget about malijak, child molestation, homophobia, monarchy, right, wrong or any of that other stuff! This is full gay reGAYlia!
Everything is sacred.
Ta Gabre Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah... Malijak didn't seem to Complain ? ;0)
by Darius Kadivar on Mon Jan 18, 2010 06:56 AM PSTWell Dunno but do any of you have any evidence that Malijak was actually ever complaining about being molested ?...

LOL
I thought he was actually molested by Uncle Napoleon during the Campaign against the British at Kazeroon ;0))

Naserodin Shah
by Souri on Mon Jan 18, 2010 06:42 AM PSTWas not a gay. He was a child molester. An abuser.
A gay deserves much more consideration than this kind of child abuser Monarch.
C'mon don't compare apples (gay reGAYlia) & oranges (homophobic)
by Anonymouse on Mon Jan 18, 2010 06:36 AM PSTEverything is sacred.
Then I'd say Your Comments are simply Homophobic ...
by Darius Kadivar on Mon Jan 18, 2010 03:47 AM PSTNot that I care much about Gay's Rights Myself but In the politically correct mindset of many leftwing or liberal moralists you yourself paradoxically seem to belong to, your comments would be seen as an aim at defining or belittiling someone's personality based on his alledged Sexual orientation ...
I believe this was something that was equally used against both the Shah and Khomeiny by their respective opponents to undermine their image in the people's minds. The Article published by Kayhan or Ettlaat back in 1978 claimed Khomeiny was Gay and it triggered hatred against the Shah and after the Shah's fall many revolutionary articles claimed in return that the Shah was gay:
//iranian.com/Pictory/2003/February/s36.html
So goes the saying:
"Ne fais pas à autrui ce que tu ne veux pas que l’on te fasse."
Aka:
"Don't apply to others what you would not like to see be applied to you"

One of the Bravest and Greatest Kings of England Richard the Lion Heart is said to have been Gay ...

with a guilt ridden relationship it is said with the then Prince Philippe ( Played by Timothy Dalton) who was to beomce the King of France
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxZdTLa4CWA&feature=related
Richard the Lion Heart ( Antony Hopkins) Squandered much of the Kingdom's money on the Crusades and useless wars only to come back to kingdom as an old man and out of touch with his poor nation taxed to the core by his illegitimate brother Prince John.
Yet History and Legends like Robin Hood present Richard the Lion Heart as a great and Just King who loved his people ...
Yet historically he neglected his people and prefered warmongering adventures leading the Crusades to victory in Jerusalem.
I'm not convinced that the Qajar Kings gave up half of Iran because they wished to do so but because they were not the super power they should have been at the time. Russia had become a super power with a strong navy and army since the times of Peter the Great. Persia was no match to their ambitions.
Very much like the Ottoman Empire, Persia was losing ground to the rising European Monarchies and Persia was in great need to modernize itself at a time when Europe was witnessing the Industrial revolution.
That explains why Nasseredin Shah made major trips to Europe to counter the Ottomans influence in the region.
I don't see how one's looks should be an argument to vouch for one's failed or successful policies ...
mishmash
by Sargord Pirouz on Sun Jan 17, 2010 10:41 AM PSTNot a big fan of gaudy epaulettes. Likewise, the shamshir is overly ornate.
Really, this royal dress is a mishmash of borrowed styles, representing the worst of both west and east.
This royal has obviously never taken the field in earnest.
DK jaan I meant this kind of gay twist.
by Anonymouse on Sun Jan 17, 2010 10:24 AM PST//www.youtube.com/watch?v=hczqi6x6BCo
Didn't he sign away/sell parts of Iran? Golestan and Torkamanchai treaties? He was one of the laziest and corrupt kings of Qajar, as far as I know, and had the biggest harem with about 1000+ women.
Everything is sacred.

I actually think he looks cool ;0)
by Darius Kadivar on Sun Jan 17, 2010 09:20 AM PSTWhat makes you think that ? Although he is said to have have had a wierd relationship with Malijak his protegé ...
Of all Qajar Kings I actually like Nasseredin Shah's Looks and style.
He looked regal unlike his son and grandsons.
Ahmad Shah the last Qajar King who was chubbier than RP also had an interesting face. He looked like a sad boy who like King Louis XVI was crushed by his larger than life responsabilities. He reminds me of Pu Yi the last Emperor of China in many ways ...
But Nasseredin Shah had a great charisma and knew how to play around with the Camera. It shows he understood the power of the medium already in it's early stages ...
He definately looks gay! In full gay regalia!
