The Army high command really
by Sargord Pirouz on Tue Jul 06, 2010 11:46 AM PDTThe Army high command really let the old man down in 1941.
I've told this story before, but will repeat it. When the British and Russians invaded, most of the senior officers in Tehran ran and hid. Upon Russian planes bombing the city, it was left to my grandfather's own personal initiative (a mere Minister of Education/Health & Welfare) to inspect the damage and rally the populace.
Somewhere, the family still has a box containing bomb fragments picked up after the Russian raid.
While in exile in South Africa, Reza Shah admitted that my grandfather was the only one who served him that worth a damn.
DK jaan the 6th guy from left "sounds" familiar ;-)
