تاریخچه «پته» و «پته دوزی»، تا حدودی مبهم است. به طور دقیق، هیچ کس نمی داند، اولین پته ها در چه سالی دوخته شدند. اما با گشتی در کتاب های تاریخی و هنری قدیمی، شاید بتوان اثری از پته های قدیم پیدا کرد.
