Several Iranian clerics criticized President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for a speech he made to seminary students, where he stated that Imam Mahdi led the Iranian nation (The speech was broadcast on IRIB May 5, 2008). The following is his response to those critics during his first presidential press conference of the Iranian New Year, which was held on May 13, 2008 in Tehran.
