"Ballet" is right!

Good choice of title. What's fun about some abstract calligraphy is that the mind hears letter sounds as the eye follows figures in motion. Example, #7.

Excellent Job

I hope the artist makes a calligraphy of the words, Persian Gulf or our national heroes names such as Korushe bozorg or Daryooshe bozorg.

SamSamIIII

A modern take on Arabo-Islamo calligraphy

by SamSamIIII on

The origins of this goes back to Kufic script(naskh) which was born in the city of Kufah. Right after Arab occupation of Iran, the city of Kufah was transfered from a mere Bedoine soldiers & invasion camp into a centre of operational & cultural activities. The weekly injection of thousands of Ajam-Iranian slave artists into the slave trade markets opened up the opportunity for Neo Arabo Islamo renaisance. Among these activities under Khaled's command was the refinement of Arabo-Omaru script by the most submissive elements of Ajam gholams & Mavali slaves from the south west. Among these Arabo ommatie artists was Abuuu ali muhaamad ibn al mughllah Shirazii in the Al Abbassid court in Baghdad who in later centuries became the father of Arabo-Omaru calligraphy . The cursive style of Nastaliq created few ceturies later in Mohammadun Iran is yet another trend & reform in the line of earlier colonial-script refinements.

Withholding an opinion on the artists's current project, I might encourage her to utilise her immence talent on creating calligraphy samples of wonderfull Aramaic Pahlavi script. Be the first & make us proud :).

Cheers!!!

Voluptuous movements

I Love both, the sensuous quality and mental engagement in Ms. Jahanbin's work. I will look for her exhibit in SF.

1, 5, 6, 12, 16 and 19 blew me away!

I like your style.  Beautiful & engaging.  Thanks for sharing.

I really liked this dry brush effect in 13, and 14 and how the caligraphy was worked out in the design.

So many graceful lines and  movements!
