I had a special Haft Seen this year since I got a personal dancing Haji Firuz from Iran [ video]. But among all Haft Seen items I love Sabzeh the best. I remember how my mother took care of the letntil sprouts that she grew for Noruz. She used lajevard (azure?) some blue powder they used for laundry to make the white clothing brighter which gave them a very pale blue color as well. Neshashteh/Starch and some red liquid called “mercurochrome” (to sanitize and heal wounds) to paint the leaves blue, white red and when Sabzeh was long enough she used to wrap a red ribbon around it. This year I grew many different kind of seeds and almost all came great. I even gave away a few to others. This year as an experiment I grew some of them in soil which is a safer way to grow Sabzeh just in case you have a hard time.
