Dear Mousa67

by Kooshan on

I exactly know what you go thru. I had the same feelings when I was in NY and were treated with humility by the zionists visiting from Israel. In the mean time, The non-political Jewish folks are amazingly human just like their counterpart non political muslims in Iran.

I do not want to roode-deraazi but if you like I can tell you an amazing story about this Jew who is definitely bigger than an Angel!

Religion in-power is the root of ugly evil, fairly speaking, whether it is in Iran or it is in Israel or pre-rennaisance Europe. It just looks like as soon as you (not litterally speeking) think you have authority from God, you start judging and funneling God's wrath onto people who do not submit to you!

Fairness breeds brotherhood and balance in society. As the expression goes: Ye soozan be khodet bezan, oonvaght ye javaldooz be digaran!

Peace

Dear Benyamin

by Kooshan on

You got my point right as you say:

----------

You are asking "Shahin Najafi" to restrain himself and respect "your"
believes or the believes of millions in Iran and around the world, I
hope I got this right?

----------

This is the age old challenge to Democracy and beyond how I or you can solve it. Where does your freedom end and where does mine end? What is the boundary for our freedom. We know that "personal Liberty" is at odds with "social liberty" in a human society. In democratic society, we tend to sacrifice social values and liberty at the expense of "personal liberty" until it gets out of hand and some victims falling and the autority steps in and "contains" th esituation. Yes you can find many examples of this not only in US but also other Euro societies.

So what comes in between this Personal Leiberty and Social Liberty is the "Law n Order". Well is it good? I think it is the best damn way we humans experienced so far on Earth!

Dear Choghok

by Kooshan on

His words are not disturbing and offensive to me but it surely is to many Iranians who are just in love with these Imams rightfully and mind their own belief and also dislike IRI. Those people think these Imams are role model because they preach fairness, kindness and humanity (Alas some others use them to further their political and econonomical power!). I conservatively count these good people up as ~20% of Iranian population. That is much more than Gay population is US in my unsure opinion but I know for sure they are not 5 or 10%. I'm talking about that 50 or 60 year old man who has not much money with our standards but willing to give to needy in time of distress.

Now what may genuinely look just some synical lyrics to you and me in US may just sound terribly offensive  to those breething the air in iran.

I justthink that this method of dealing with IRI is not serving our long term democratic and civil society. We can not get there with these tactics. I mean do yuou really think that Marilyn Manson has set the milestone norms in America or he is just a benifactor (to some abuser) of democratic society?

That is one factor.

Also, Please do not equate hakim Khayyam and scholar Avecina to Shahin for god's sake. It is not fair! Khayyam's poems are masterpice and timeless...I still baffle how his poems does not belong to a time n geography and only relate to human experience!

it could be worse. just imagine you were a jewish zionist guy, who visits iranian.com because of his love for iran & iranians. can you imagine the kind of abuse you'd get from every mamoor & mamooreh of ahmadinejad joon on this site?

Kooshan!

by Benyamin on

The premise of your argument is wrong!

You are asking "Shahin Najafi" to restrain himself and respect "your" believes or the believes of millions in Iran and around the world, I hope I got this right?

That means, You are consciously or subconsciously implying your believes are more important than his!

I remind you in any democracy the person is very important and just because the majority believes in certain values doesn`t mean they are correct!

Democracy is abour preservation of human dignity, integrity and minorities of all kinds!

MAYBE IT IS TIME TO RESPECT THE MINORITIES VALUES AS WELL!

choghok

Kooshan what is offensive in the lyrics?

by choghok on

Just what in Najafis lyrics is offensive? If you can enlighten with samples from the so called his offensive words it would be interesting?

Does it count as offensive if he share his idea that he think Mahdi will never come? Or is it offensive that he talks about todays Iran?

I have read the poem and found nothing offensive towards any Imam, just that the guy like many else is talking about the problems in Iran.

Yes there have been many like Shahin Najafi, Avicenna and Khayyam were also target by mullahs in their time, for thinking different and not being affraid sharing it.

So true Vildemose

by Kooshan on

"..He is merely verbalizing that degenrate spirit taught to him by the leaders of islamic republic from khomeini to khamenie."

I totally agree that it just matter what you you consider as "vulgar" depends on what you value. For this reason, I say, this cycle has to be stopped by the people who think they are civilized and democratic (respecting freedom of belief and expression togethere).

I expect this from people who claim to be democratic but not from a totaliterian mind such as IRI.

The reason I think it has to stop is not to appease IRI but rather to teach regular people democratic values. We will not change heart and minds of regular people with "humiliating and vulgar" language, we will probably win over IRI in a bloody conflict without insuring democracy after that. I learned this before 1979 revolution!

vildemose

 Dear Kooshan: I don't

by vildemose on

Dear Kooshan: I don't find Najafi's language or tone even slightly as vulgar.

What you view a "vulgar" might be mild for others. I think vulgarity both in mind and spirit (sometimes even in language) epitomizes the entire system of  Islamic republic. And unfortunately, it has trickled down from the top to the entire moral and ethical fabric of the society. Shahin is a product of that system. He has been immersed in cesspoll of  vulgarity growing up in Iran under islamic republic tutelge.

..He is merely verbalizing that degenrate spirit taught to him by the leaders of islamic republic from khomeini to khamenie.

Kooshan

Dear Benyamin

by Kooshan on

The cornerstone of a democratic society is "personal liberty" which is in itself will destroy the democratic system. To contain this self destructive nature of democracy, we have ammended this little deterence: as long as it does not limit freedom of others".

So simply put:

We know IRI is totaliterian entity and undemocratic.

It does limit my freedom.

I preach to be pushing for democratic society.

I must not behave in a way to insult others belief.

Unfortunately, we are a nation with little patience and we want to establish a democratic society tonight. It won't work. We need to go thru the process of exercising right values to get there. Then there is no reason for bloodshed - Once we establish democracy in the hearts of the fabric of society (people like you and me), IRI will disappear.

Kooshan

Dear Vildemose

by Kooshan on

Nothing justifies fatwa against Najafi in my mind. It is the abuse of authority. I do not believe in tit for tat but I beleive in justifiable defense in th eprocess of power struggle based on fairness.

I believe in responding to insult with kindness and repeat this process til the insulter is exhausted. This is the process even holy men from the Almighty used.

My concern is that a volgur language does not serve a democratic society's cause (although it is tolerated in a democratic society) but rather it hurts the road to democratic and civilozed society. I dream of my hero to be a guy who sacrifices himself rather than his values in the process of getting to a democratic society. Because if he does sacrifice values, he will end up to be the demon he was fighting againstafter gaining power.

Benyamin

to Kooshan!

by Benyamin on

I read your comment. I must say With all due respect I happen to disagree with what you said!

In any society there are general values that have been accepted as "value" but those general values are not the same for everyone or not everyone understood them just the same!

If you believe in Democracy then you should know you are not fighting for your values to become canons when Democracy is at work! It is because the over all frame of Democracy would let you to practice/respect/teach your values as it also let "Sahin Najafi-ha" to practice/respect/teach their own version of sets of values!

No one has ever claimed that Democracy is beautiful! but it is just or more so than any other political system!

I think it is time to be united under the banner of "Democracy" and fight for it but keep our values and believes intact so when finally Democracy is at work then we all could "harkas seeyeh kare khodesh, male khodesh, ateesh be anbareh khodesh bereh"(lol)

History is full of Shahin Najafis

by Kooshan on

And also history is full of rulers who breed Najafi characters. The point is system of values we believe in. And then we choose a method to materialize thos values. If we believe in "Ends justifies means" then the tactics we choose to get the results will contradict and prevent us from getting there. This is exactly the tactics revolution used and now IRI is exactly has fallen into same sins that they used to smear on Shah's face.

So, As long as our means do not support our objectices, we will be in this spiral of moving from one political system to another with the same spirit, prroblems, errs and antagonism with just different players. So, this is my protest to What Shahins are doing in the course of history.

There is a fine line between Courage and Arrogance and that is Virtue!

Bavafa

Agreed mostly with Benyamin sentiments….

by Bavafa on

But I think as Shahin himself acknowledged in this interview, the Fatwa is not so much about this song or religious content but about his attitude and influence on the young masses in Iran and towards the establishment.  He has certainly been far more critical of the establishment in Iran in his other songs then in Naghi.

I wish him well and more success

BREAKING THE ULTIMATE TABOO!!!

by Benyamin on

First I don`t think Shahin Najafi himself has any idea what he has done in terms of effecting the Iranian society or a push to change that society breaking the ultimate taboo and pivitol moment in Iran`s history! I believe his song and his attitude and his "generation" and all of them together are indicating that the idea of theocratic politics based on religion doesn`t work and has peaked and from now on the IRI or theocratic Idea is only on the path to self distruction!!!

People were more religious before the revolution! and even those who "didn`t" practice islam truly believed in something not too far from the ones who were religious! But thirty years of theocracy has left Iran with less religious people and even fewer spirituals, there are many people and specially youths in Iran that just don`t believe in anything! That is only bad news for the IRI.

Second: The iranian mullahs must be getting ready to issue hundreds if not thousands of"Fatvas" for the next few years to come  since the taboo is broken and the ultimate "sin" is now a joke to the generation that was brought up by "ISLAMISTS"and I predict the new "Blasphemers" will be much ruder more direct and less respectful of religion(shi`ites) authorities or sacred characters in Shi`ite religion!

If every one of us protect Shahin Najafi and if every one of us repeat what he sang then every one us is a blasphemer and therfore every one us must be recieving a "Fatva"!!! The IRI will be needing a lot more Ayatolahs to issue "Fatva".

CULTURE IS GRATER THAN RELIGION, BECAUSE RELIGION DOESN`T NECESSARILY INCLUDE CULTURE(AS IT IS IN CASE OF IRI.) BUT CULTURE DOES INCLUDE RELIGION THEREFORE RELIGION IS DOOMED TO FOLLOW CULTURE OR BE AT ITS MERCY AND THAT IS WHAT SHAHIN NAJAFI JUST PROVED!

Revolution generation

by Fred on

Messianic Islamist Rapists have got a huge problem, the Revolution generation has turned on them.

This generation knows Islamist Rapists well, knows what to do and say to speed up the departure of the warmongering, messianic Islamist Rapists.

Before it is too late, the sane world has to increase the pressure on the Islamist Rapists and openly help the enslaved Iranians to overthrow the Islamist Rapists, "reformers" and all.
