According to the Facebook page of Kavoos Soofi's supporters, "Kavoos' deportation has been stopped but so many other people are in detention. There are thousands of people facing deportation in Canada, and we need to support all of them in their fight for dignity and justice. Thank you for your support. We can't wait to rejoice with Kavoos."

good news, but...
by Jahanshah Javid on Fri Feb 03, 2012 04:59 PM PSTVery good news that Soofi's deportation will not take place. For now. No details are available yet, but there's still a possibility that his legal battles may not be over.
DO NOT deport him!
by Jahanshah Javid on Fri Feb 03, 2012 04:42 PM PSTCanada would be committing grave injustice if she sends Soofi back to Iran. There are serious legal questions regarding the validity of the deportation order as well as deep concerns about Soofi's fate once he gets back to the Islamic Republic where pro-democracy activists are not exactly given the red carpet treatment.
I signed the petition. I hope everyone does too.
