Jebraeel Khosravi: Prisoner of the day

Six years in prison for membership in a Kurdish political group

RAHANA: Jebraeel Khosravi is a Kurdish political activist. He was arrested on 16 August 2008 in Sanandaj. In January 2009, the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, under Judge Babaee, ruled that Khosravi is a "mohareb" (enemy of God) for his membership in a Kurdish political party, and sentenced him to 20 years in prison, to be served in exile in Bandar Abbas.

An Appeals court later reduced Khosravi's sentence to six years in prison. In December 2011, 3.5 years into his prison term, Jebraeel Khosravi embarked on a hunger strike to protest the ambiguous state of his case and his prolonged prison term. The Prison Warden had requested a conditional pardon for Khosravi, but the request was rejected by the judge at Branch 4 of Sanandaj Appeals Court. He remains inside the Sanandaj prison.

========================================

Free Jebraeel Khosravi!

I (we) am (are) writing this to condemn persecution and harrasment of ethnic minorities in Iran.  National minorities in Iran are being
constantly harassed and arrested by the Iranian government authorities.
In particular, this letter is written to express my (our) serious
concern about the health and well being of Mr. Jebraeel Khosravi who has
been  unjustly incarcerated,originally on a 20 years sentence.

 Although Mr. Khosravi's Prison Warden has requested a conditional pardon for him, he's still imprisoned due to Appeals Court's rejection of this request.

I (we) demand the immediate and unconditional
freedom of Mr. Jebraeel Khosravi, and all other political prisoners,
and call on the Islamic Republic of Iran to respect the right of all
Iranians to  organize, assemble and freedom of  association and
