Paper Pusher

I'm confused here. . .

by Paper Pusher on

Is she Iranian because she was born in Iran to American parents and learned Farsi from living in the country?   Or she has an Ameh Parvin or Amoo Cyrus?  (I'm asking if she's ethnically from the region as well . . .not that this should matter).  Either way best of luck to her.  I live in SF and will vote for her.

Voting for her is an easier decision than voting for Ross Mirkarimi as SHERIFF!!! Mirkarimi worked at the District Attorney without ever being a lawyer or prosecutor (he was basically a political administrator collecting a paycheck at the DA's office).

Then he headed  to city hall, until now when his term is about to expire . . . and now he's running for another political office (Sheriff is an elected position), without ever having been a law enforcement officer.

Just graduating from the SF police academy which is basically a ten week course and heading to an office as a politician pushing pencils (em sorry "investigating white collar crime") for a couple of years does not make you a police officer. . . it makes you someone who went through the police academy and didn't want to get shot at so you opted out of doing the actual ground work.

It appears that Mirkarimi wants the top job at the Sheriff's office without even having the experience of issuing a speeding ticket let alone fighting crime.

That's where I say "sorry bud" having an iranian father and showing up at Shams Ensemble shows and blurting "salam" is not enough for me to vote for you to be the head of an office with which you have ZERO experience.

I don't like career politicians tugging my "hey I'm just like you I like ghormeh sabzi" strings to shop for a public paycheck.  You want to be Sheriff go patrol the streets for a year or two and we'll talk. . . don't expect me to vote for you to get a new office just because the old one is running out.

On Sharmin. . .smart lady Georgetown Law. . .spent time at the Alameda DA.  Paid her dues and has demonstrated a genuine interest in the job (not just getting her card punched in one line and heading to the next to collect a paycheck).  Sharmin for DA all the way!

Hope she likes ghormeh sabzi :) :) :)
